This thread is for the discussion of the language, culture, travel, daily life, etc. of Japan. Let's tark at randam in Japanese and English. Take it easy!
Any japanese people care to answer a few questions? How would an average japanese citizen react to a foreigner with no asian features speaking the language? Maybe not so perfectly. Asumming all the honorary words for proper respect are used. love u ppl
>Gaijin speaking pretty good Japanese It's not a novelty any more. You can still surprise us for a split second and make us feel obliged to compliment on your Japanese though.
Japanese government has entered into an adjustment requesting Internet connection providers based in the country to implement measures to block connections to pirate sites that make it possible to read manga and magazines for free on the net.

Its a pretty hard language, but its not like you cant learn it if you spend time to do so. There is nothing special with a westerner who speaks japanese.

I see, thanks for answering. Some friends travelled to France and tried to speak with the locals and they usualy got a lot of rude remarks. I guess I was asking if people don't take it in a "protective" way over there. Also, if you don't mind, are Japanese people usually racist/hostile toward foreigners, both working there or just travelling?
Yes, yes, I'm not expected to be cherished or congratulated, more like afraid to be confronted with hostility.
Yeah... but it makes me wonder what would be a reason for a gaijin to study our language, which is spoken in a relatively limited part of the world and by a relatively limited number of people for relatively limited purposes.
French would be rude to you whether you speak their language or not. We tend to avoid interaction with gaijins, usually because we don't want to embarrass ourselves by speaking bad English in public.
We have an old family friend who is an American born Japanese man. 3rd generation. He says he wont travel to Japan because he wasnt a native japanese speaker and is treated differently because he wasnt born in Japan.
Whats up with that?
