Russia is such a wierd country where it's citizens have to use Jow Forums's /int to even communicate with each other. Like they live in separate states.

Hey Russofriends,
I have a question about your country. I apologize for the English as I don't know any Russian. I recently read a book called "Nothing is True and Everything is Possible". I read it for a book club, and it was suggested by another member.
In the book, Russia is portrayed as an incredibly corrupt country. There is a section of about "Reiderstvo", another about how policemen are sometimes called "werewolves in uniform". It seems that corruption is a part of daily life in Russia, at least according to the book.
My question is thus, how true is the statement corruption is widespread, if not universal, in your state? I do not mean to offend, I am just trying to get a different perspective. Thank you for your time reading this.

But, in particular - raiders no longer exist. Cause they end up dead or imprisoned. Werewolves in the uniform - since they was restructurized and get better salary - they significantly less participate in criminal actions. But we still have corruption.

The federal government including the president is corrupt to the core, it's true, but average citizen who isn't related to big business and big money barely faces it in real life.

I am glad to hear about your police force becoming less corrupt. I am sure that is good for everyday life.
As for the raiders, I imagine some of them are just now in the Putin government, no? At least, the ones that are still in favor.
>He's a well known Kiev-related western propagandist That is what it seemed like. The author seemed to view western governments as free of corruption. So you would say in the lives of everyday people you have to deal with fewer bribes, fewer mafia incidents?
That makes sense.
Thank you for your replies.
It also seems like from the thread that Russia is still largely atheist, despite Putin's courting of the Orthodox church. Is all this bluster about Holy Russia and anti-degeneracy felt by regular people?
>fewer mafia incidents What's mafia? Organized crime is almost nonexistent here, if you don't count our government.

Meh. Raiders got territories and businesses. The once who did the dirt - gone. But the people behind them now exist as a businessmen. They did neccessary law(corrupted)-actions to hold the captured stuff. It's just a sort of businessman nowadays. Some of them got it by law, some cheated in the start. Some of them may be present in the top-tier politics, but it wont be obvious.

>As for the raiders, I imagine some of them are just now in the Putin government, no?
Probably yes. The ones who didn't emigrate from Russia or get killed, obviously.
>So you would say in the lives of everyday people you have to deal with fewer bribes, fewer mafia incidents?
I personally have never bribed anyone neither I had deals with mafia (I doubt there's any mafia in the place where I live, lol).
>Is all this bluster about Holy Russia and anti-degeneracy felt by regular people?
Sometimes it feels very cringeworthy, since the people who are talking about "Holy Russia and anti-degeneracy" seem to not believe in their own words.

>if you don't count our government Haha, nice.
There are mentions of organized crime in the book, although the specific example is in Vladivostok. Perhaps it is different in regions further from Moscow.
I apologize again, I am very curious about the situation in Russia after having read the book, and if I am not being impertinent, I would like to ask more questions.
1) The book mentions TNT, some kind of vapid entertainment network focusing on reality TV and positive stories. Do you watch this channel? What is its perception in Russia?
2) One of the author's first shows is "How to Marry a Millionaire (A Gold Digger's Guide)". Have you seen this show, and if so, what is your opinion of it? It also mentions that organizations like these that teach women how to seduce wealthy men are common. Is that true?
3) The book mentions a man named Alexander Mozhayev, a Muscovite architect who is trying to preserve some of old Moscow from developers. He posits that some arson gangs are hired by developers to destroy buildings that stand in the way of development. Is that true? Do you have an opinion regarding the pace of change of Moscow?
Thank you again for your time reading these.

I believe you are calling me naive? I'm sorry, I have never been to your country, and with everything in the news (all news is biased, I know), and this book I read recently, I am curious. I just wanted to ask regular russian anons

How do u get here? What if you master will find out u here? You should use vpn or proxy, fast.
>Have you seen this show >Do you watch this channel?
I don't watch tv at all.
>What is its perception in Russia?
TNT looks like an entertainment channel that broadcasts comedy tv shows, reality-shows, soap-operas, sitcoms (mostly adaptations of the american ones) and other low-iq crap. Dunno, probably there are many people who would like it, but I'm not a fan of this kind of content.
Fair enough. There is much mistrust nowadays, and I knew I could come off as a shill or a spook, but this a powerful mechanism to communicate across the world. As monitored and controlled as this board may be, it is a valuable exchange of information.
For what it's worth, this thread has confirmed to me the book's strong Western bias, so thank you
