Might not be 100% accurate but this is how I remember it when I had to learn it. Only god knows how boring learning our history with the British empire was. We had to memorize when each Emirate became part of the empire and the treaties they signed. Literally nothing happened. I would have thanked Britain for the fact that my country isn't part of Saudi Arabia, but the Saudi expansion wouldn't have been so successful without British weaponry and support in the first place.

The British empire is so underwhelming for it's size. The empire was large because they claimed practically huge empty areas like say Canada or Australia. And they think that beating Sub Saharan nigs in Africa and taking their land is a grand achievement. Or having colonies on a continent ravaged by plagues is. Sub Saharan Africans and North americans had no advanced civilizations and certainly didn't have advanced weaponry. The only thing that I'll admit is impressive is conquering India. Although half of British India was made up of princely states, they were pretty much just tributary states. Much of the British empire was like that.

They ruled 22% of the world's land area and 20% of the world's population

For the Achaemenid Empire it's 5% area - 44% population

Qing empire 9% area - 37% population

Mauryan empire 4% - 40%

Alexander's empire 4% - 30%

Umayyads 10% - 29%

Gupta 2% - 26%

Mongol 22% -26%

Mughal 3% - 25%

Tang 4% - 24%

Pala 4% - 24%

Song dynasty 2% - 22%

Rome 4% - 21%

Abbasid 7% - 20%

That is not to say having a higher % of population makes the empire more interesting, but to say that the British empire was way more empty in comparison to it's size. Most people in the British empire lived in India. Not a shit empire, but an overrated one.

If it weren't due to technological advances on behalf of Britain, you wouldn't be here online, and you probably wouldn't even be alive. The UK and the US are absolutely insurmountable nations in terms of influence.
