We do it by former nationality. And nationalities are categorized as western (Europe, Anglos, Japan, Indonesia) or non-western (everything else). They also now have a third generation category. So even by mixing you can't really become Dutch.
Usually only non-westeners get tracked separately in crime and unemployment statistic publications.
