Poland is magnitude better than Russia. Higher wages, HDI, GDP per capita, life expectancy, infrastructure, climate, cleanliness etc. But since Russia is so big and influential, other nations think that all other Slavs are just little Russians and therefore all their countries look like Russia. My grandfather was a party member and a die hard communist yet he attended every sunday's mass till his death. Polish and Russian societies when it comes to religion are vastly different especially considering that both were fed the same anti-cleric values for decades.
