Only reason of why America still uses Imperial scale is cause to change it would be very expensive, they'd have to change road signs all over the country, change measurments in corporations and businesses, also people would have to adapt to something they are not used to.
But still, soon or later, they will change into the metric scale, same with kilos and Celsius
