Qué es eso? Parecen golosinas.

lots of beans, lentils, beef stews

es desayuno, lo único dulce son las "hojaldres" que son masa de harina frita con azucar encima si quieres
éstas son nuestras golosinas.. huevos de leche (manjar), cocadas, suspiros etc

>south American food
This is like saying "European food".

Peruvians and some other countries have indian food.

Honestly sometimes I get bored of eating the same shit every time I go out, fideos, ravioles, ñoqui, milanesa, pizza, asado. There's nothing else.

Have you ever been outside the southern cone?
Corn countries have their own things

i think its very normal, rice and beans, eggs and salsa, tortilla and guacamole. we have mcdonalds if you dont like our food during your visit

That looks awful

that looks like colombian food in a funny shape and weird way of preparing

In the north it's like sourthern mexican food and in the south like caribbean colombia food

beans, maize, rice, chicken, plantains. from the minimal travel ive done in the region its pretty good.

beans rice tortillas
this is a tamal made out of potatoes, way better than the mexican ones

Mexico is the only country with truly good food in the region.

Costa Rican food is terrible; Nicaraguan food is bland but meaty enough to be palatable. Not sure about the rest, but I doubt it's much better.

el salvador is the dankest cuz 4 pupusas for a dollar

Will add that there is nothing, outside of African and Filipino cuisine, worse than Colombian "food."

Uma delicia

that name always cracks me, my salvadorian friends always get offended when i laugh at it

Guatemala, Nicaragua, Honduras and El Salvador's food is "Mexican", yes. You need to understand thats the Mesoamerican cultural sphere so technically they are the same and have lots in common.

Costa Rica and Panamá are part of the Interamerican cultural sphere so they share are the "same" as Colombia and Venezuela. Having said that I would say Costa Rican food is more Caribbean than anything else, the same with Panamá, mostly because of the heavy Caribbean influence here. Belice itself is a full Caribbean country so they are something else.

What you call "Mexican food" we call here "Nicaraguan food", then again, we identify anything from Central America and Mexico to be Nicaraguan, something obvious being Nicaragua the closest Mesoamerican country we have. The same is true for the United States regarding México.

You can see this divide of culture with the few things we share, for example this food, patacones (pic). They are known as "tostones" in México, Guatemala, Honduras, El Salvador and Nicaragua, while being known as "patacones" in CR, Panamá, Colombia, Ecuador and Perú.

What do they eat that can be so bad?

It's just incredibly, horrifically bland. Tastes get a bit better along the Caribbean coast, but Colombian cuisine is utterly unremarkable.

i don't think it's bad, it's just simple

what's there not to like. it is nothing exotic and pretty familiar stuff.

that name is funny here too xD sounds loke the word for vulva ;)

>xD

kys

I bet they don't use chilies

i would eat vulva. wouldn't even laugh

we barely use any condiment or spice

They don't.

Costa Rica is our ethnic Colombian State

wtf

we just cook it and eat it, we get to the shit, some people just add toppings like mayo or ketchup but most eat it just like it is

hmmm que buena pinta~
me encantaria probarlo :3

I know Panama is pretty similar to colombia, but what about Costa Rica?

Yes, could pass as local

Panama is close to Colombia's Caribbean and Pacific coast, Costa Rica is close to Colombia's central region and high lands.

Is your country similar to colombia?

No, Colombia is similar to us.

It needs some sauce or a wet dish

What do you guys share in common with colombia except language?

>way better than the mexican ones
of course not you pleb

Meh, I don't know, food, the same type of Amerindians, stuff like that. Its a kind of weird question.

For some reason I thought you guys were like Dominicans and Puerto ricans.

Memes aside costa ricans are very similar to colombians. Once I stayed at a hostel in Sao Paulo and I overheard some people talking at the entrance. I immediately asked them which city they were from thinking they were colombian, turned out they were costa ricans. It's pretty easy to mistake them considering their accent is almost identical. Wonder if Chibcha influence in both countries have something to do with that

Not really, the country we are closer to is Colombia, then Jamaica, then Panama, then the USA and so. There is some Mesoamerican influence in our North Western region, but thats from the Colonial times and since independence their ties were cut off.

So you guys have little in common with Guatemala,Mexico, and other centram countries?

this is the type of shit i could make on a lazy trip to the fridge, c'mon.

ethnic composition. People in both countries are descended from the same mix of europeans (Spaniards) + a specific type of amerindians (Muiscas) which are mostly extinguished as of today. We are a bit more African than them thanks to input from the pacific and Caribbean coasts but in essence most people can pass as local in both countries.

Besides, I think they're also deep into coffee culture as we are and the weather is quite similar as well due to geographical location, same applies to Venezuela and Panama

Nah, our country policy was to be isolated from them. The first land route between CR and Central American was built until 1955 and until 1949 Central Americans were not allowed to stay here nor get residence.

The CR and Nicaragua border is were two different cultural regions meet, Interamerica and Mesoamerica respectively. We share more in common with the Caribbean and all of South American than with Central America. Hell, I would say there is more Mexican influence here than even Nicaraguan.

Mix all that with heavy xenophobia towards Central Americans and its almost impossible for there to be some kind of common stuff.

>potatoes
Sasuga blue Peru

Damn you guys are identical.

>xenophobia towards Central Americans
Why?

Back in Colonial times we were the poorest Spanish American territory and one of the many reasons for this was the laws and policies the Guatemala kingdom implemented regarding us. So back then there was this hatred regarding the rest of the Guatemalan Kingdom, our economy basically depended on going to sell whatever we could in Panama and (today's) Colombia. Anyway, so you have this hatred because of an inferiority complex.

Then you have the 19th century and first half of the 20th, while we were still poor in comparison to them, we were peaceful, more equal, and meme stuff like that, so know a new hatred was born, now because of a superiority complex.

Then you have everything since 1950, we became way more developed, way richer, way better at everything, and not only that, they are the biggest shithole of all of America. The hatred was only fuelled.

From and identity point of view, Central American are "the other", the enemy. They are everything we are not and we are everything they are not. They are violent, we are peaceful, they are stupid we are smart, they are mostly rural, sexist and over religious, we are liberals, they are smelly Spics, we was White and shit, etc. Its a subject which has been discussed a lot since the 20's here. Basically, you can't be Costa Rican without hating Central Americans, specially Nicaraguans.

>they are the biggest shithole of all of America
That's sad.

>they are smelly Spics, we was White and shit
If you speak Spanish you're a spic, it doesn't matter if you look Amerindian or Iberian desu.

>If you speak Spanish you're a spic, it doesn't matter if you look Amerindian or Iberian desu.

You didn't get what I was trying to say.

I'm a retard, explain?

Racism, they are not White we are White/Whiter, thats it.

Are you whiter than them, Muhammad?

just the oaxaqueños de mole are good the rest are meh
paches are superior in any possible way
