Did euros have after-school stuff like sports or clubs in high school?

i didn't
everyone just went home when their classes ended

I see
don't you guys have longer school schedules and go home for lunch? Or am I thinking of Asia

Yeah. But of course it is up to you if you want to attend or not.

I would guess so. They probably have cricket, rugby, soccer, and baseball clubs.

They probably have drama and other clubs standard after school clubs.

We have something like, but probably it's a bit different than in US.

there were no clubs at my school but we did have sports

it was like twice a week in the afternoon

I’m a fucking retard. I meant basketball.

no

Nope. After the school day was done everyone fucked off as quickly as possible.

no
but PE teachers often organise some extra gym classes after lessons for people who want to come and play volleyball for example

Only in elementary school, i think.

>tfw I was one of the nameless football players that wasn't trash but didn't stand out as a star
>my best friend was the Chad that won homecoming king

schdeules were very flexible
days ended anywhere inbetween 14:15 and 16:10
lunch was only 30 minutes but if you could go home, eat and come back in that time you were free to do so, me and my friends often went to a local store and buy some luch there

No, but we got free gym membership

>baseball
baseball isn't popular in any european country at all m8

also drama club is something that seems to me completely out of an american film. Any after school activities were not usually on school premises and the school was not really associated with them

yep, there are various sports, art and other things to do. I was on a football team, a scout and went to a guitar teacher

I had my music "club" after school with a bunch of friends but that was not really a school thing even though we used the schools recording studio.
Just three days of the week where we would record some tracks, practice and have fun.

After school sports is actually much more common in Europe than in America. But it's arranged and managed by small local sports clubs and not by the schools.

In my middle school most of the boys played football. The girls had much more variety of interest and did handball, taekwondo, badminton etc.

In America literally every teenager has a car and goes to whatever fast food place is around
sometimes me and my friends would order a pizza early so it would arrive outside the school right when lunch started and we would just eat that instead because our school food sucks ASS

Yes. D'oh.

same
as far as I can remember, 7th grade was the year you had the most classes so it was considered a good schedule to have 1 free afternoon. 12th grade was the year you had the least classes so if you were lucky you could even have a day off, although that was extremely unlikely.

Every other year it was common to have 2 free afternoons

Kinda cool. Sounds like a fun time.
We had a 1 hour break plus 2x10 minutes for travel during our lunch break.
Me and my buddies would ride our mopeds (yep, no cars for us) to the closest pizzeria and eat or just go to my house and chill (I lived around the corner)
School food was pretty great though, in house restaurant shared the same building complex so we would get restaurant grade food for free.

nice variety. most here have the usual sports like
>football
>soccer
>basketball
>tennis
>track and field
>volleyball
>baseball
my school had a bit of money so besides the basic sports we also had rugby and cricket
only indian diaspora kids played cricket

>having school after lunch
lmao fucking plebs
i've never been to school after 1 pm

no

Nothing that large. People who were good at sports weren't school celebrities or anything.

>All these nos
I went to a shit school and it still had after school sports with a football team for each year.

how do Euros develop hobbies, if they don't have after school-scheduled hobby activities?

what do they do when they get home?

pesäpallo is quite popular here and it's just finnish version of baseball

here school schedules end at the same time every day (usually 15:00 or 15:30 depending where you live) but if you had credits filled you could have a free period where you could go home or something. Most kids who did that by 11th or 12th grade wouldn't take morning classes so they could sleep in.

this

>what do they do when they get home?
Drop off the school stuff then leave and hang with friends all day.
Me and my friends always went to the local "adventure" hall and climbed, did parkour and skated/bmx etc.

Depends where you live

i just masturbated and played video games all day
good times

?
Besides the school band I wasn't involved in any other activities, and when I was home I never practiced my saxophone but I had my own hobbies like painting or rock climbing at a local gym

i dropped the backpack on the floor, played video games until midnight, then checked what lessons i have tomorrow, changed the books and notebooks in the backpack, went to sleep

Well you don't need school to find the hobbies for you.

we don't have school's sports teams instead we have municipality's sport team

I joined a kayaking club when I was 13. Had nothing to do with school. Also played soccer a bit and was a member in the local archery club.

Why would you need "school-scheduled hobby activities" to do stuff?

So you're telling me that without the school scheduling a hobby for you, you would just sit at home and stare at the wall? One of my hobbies was building RC cars, not exactly found on the school curriculum.

that sounds fun ......

see, this is what I would do

don't colleges reject you if you do not have enough normie hobbies, like baseball team or orchestra club or a social club?

same, but my classmates had lunch anyway.

>that sounds fun ......
No idea if you are being sarcastic or not but yes, it was the best years of my life and tons of fun.

no
i know brits have it at unis and college but in Sweden only that high end school have sport clubs, maybe they havei t up in Stockholm, no idea

>don't colleges reject you if you do not have enough normie hobbies
no

I joined a fencing club but that was unrelated to school.

This is the most american thing I have ever read

If I weren't forced to do after-school hobbies, I would probably play vidya all day.

like this
there are some "hobby clubs" in the city, but they are for little kids because they lose members to the local schools when people turn age 12

> age 6-12: join city club or local club
> age 12-18: join high school club

then when people graduate high school, they are kicked out of high school club and don't have hobbies anymore

not really, people might be stupid here but literally no one thinks like that

Yeah, most schools have hurling and Gaelic football teams. A few fee-paying schools are big into rugby.

My parents had rules, only 3 hours of vidya per day and only if I spent at least 2 hours doing something healthy first. That's why I joined the kayaking club.
Turned out to be great fun though and something I still do.

I wish my parents were like that.

There are clubs for sports and other hobbies, but they are not attached to a school.
