It's true that a big part of the industry has been destroyed but living standards have actually increased. In communism many people didn't have heating in - 20 degrees celsius because the state had to save money. Food and electricity was rationalised, imagine being allowed to buy only half of liter of cooking oil per family member per month. And the communism only created thieves an corrupt people, we're in this situation today because of them. Their legacy still lives on
