Australia is surprisingly similar to canada + usa when it comes to sports. I'm pretty surprised how many basketball, baseball, and to a lesser extent american football fans there are among aussies. Canada, Australia, and US overlap quite a bit in sports. Britain is the real outlier

Australia has a competitive basketball and baseball team for national events. That while isn't great, is pretty damn competitive relatively. Australia has an observable online presence of fans in all 3 sports I've mentioned. I can think of Australian born players for every sport I've mentioned.

If you want a non-meme answer America has a very different view of democracy than the other Anglo countries. They elect judges and sheriffs and generally have a much stronger belief in democracy than other countries.

Americans are always obsessed with being the best, right? Over here we fucking hate that shit, Canada, New Zealand and Australia in particular. Even if you are the greatest person to walk the Earth you can't act like you are or even slightly acknowledge it. We pretend we're just as good as each other, because once you start saying otherwise everyone will turn on you and try to tear you down.

Another example is what we call cultural cringe. Americans think they live in the best country on Earth, we think we live in shitholes and Europeans have it better than us.

There's quite a lot more there too. Most of the features that I'd say define anglo culture are different in America. I'm not making a value judgement there, just saying that we're different.

For us, Vienna is over there and it doesn't really matter how we vote because nothing is going to change. I guess a difference between us and Germans in that regard is that this is their first real try with democracy as a unified country, so I find a lot of Germans to be more idealistic about it.... Even though they've had the same chancellor since I've known what a chancellor was
