I'm well aware of that, but Republicans had a large amount of support from USSR, Mexico, France, and the USA/UK as well. Not to mention that this factor alone is not well enough to win a war.
I know most of the soldiers were conscripted (Nationalists had 600,000 soldiers at height, compared to 450,000 for Repubs.) But this was mainly from conscription.
I can't find a proper number on how civilians viewed Franco, but seeing as there was relatively little civil unrest, at least in mainland Spain, I think it's fair to say it was somewhat positive.
Albeit, you could argue this was because of White Terror and people being scared to speak out.

A friend of mine has family from chile who fled pinochet. His grandma is a kind woman now and rather apolitical but the rest of his commi family immediatly started to network with german commis and tried to advance their foothold here before the ideology got drowned out by the changing times.
