My ex was Russian and she swore she had no Jewish ancestry, I'm not so sure. Not that I mind, I love khazar girls. Aren't all Russians at least 1/2% Jew?

After iron curtain fell almost every Jew migrated to Israel or at least get dual-citizenship. But they continuing play significant role in TV-business or politics.
But keep in mind that in Soviet-times many Jewish people changed their surnames to Russian ones due to anti-semitic policy.

They are not iranians at all.
They are oghus turks. Seljuk turks conquered persia and lots of turkic people settled down in the Azerbaijan province. They stayed there like turks stayed in anatolia.
Why else would they speak a turkic language then?
Its like saying turks are greeks because they conquered their lands.

I think language and genetics are different things? For example Yakuts aren't Turkic but their language is Turkic.
