You see Sheila, we live in a country which has what the Americans call SOCIALIZED MEDICINE. That means that lots of people and companies and big government agencies all pay in a lot of money to the Australian government, to help keep individual health costs down overall for people.

Think about it pumpkin. Would you like to grow up to be a nurse, or a doctor? If you really like it, and if someone else paid for your house, and your car, and things like that, then it might be nice, and you might even do it for no money at all. But you would have to have other people support you, one way or another. The end result of this is that people have to deal with money, one way or another. The doctor issues a bill when he (or she) is all done, and someone has to pay that bill. In some countries like America, the poor Americans have to pay the entire bill all by themselves. In our country, the government pays the bill to the doctor, with all the money it gets from all the people and big companies.

Actually honey if you grow up to be pretty, and I think you will, then lots of people will give you lots of things for free, so things might be different for you. But even so, someone has to pay for things overall. Just like health care. It's just a question of who pays.

A Health Savings Account is a pretax contribution, meaning the government actually charges us less in taxes to set aside the money we will use on our healthcare. It works great and rewards those who plan ahead.

Meanwhile, the closest things we have to socialized healthcare, Medicare, Medicaid and TriCare all suck, are backrupting the country despite massive tax receipts, and private practices will outright refuse it because it pays pennies on the dollar, a million years later.

I'm all for the novelty of UHC when the American government can do jackfucking anything well.
