All this is very familiar to my country and neighboring sites. Many places from economic and industrial centers turned into shitholes, and it's so exciting (in case of SA).

Yes well it's a pity about the people.

It isn't comfortable and the danger is very real. There's no exaggeration until you see the term "white genocide". Whites are regularly raped, tortured and murdered in home invasions here. While blacks do make up the majority of violent crime victims (as progressives like to point out) the incidence of torture is much lower in their cases.

Afrikaans is Dutch with little influence from African languages, so yes we can understand each other if we do a lot of effort. However, Afrikaans has changed quite a bit since 1800 due isolation from other Dutch speaking areas.

Actually the influence of French and English had more of an influence on modern dutch than afrikaans ever experienced. Influence on our part was names for animals we got from the khoi such as kudu and toktokkie and piesang.

For the most part afrikaans was isolated in their republics unlike in Europe.

That's why we still have old dutch grammatical rules like the double negative and such. Pretty interesting overall
