The structure and prose is pretty much identical between the scandinavian languages, but the main difference is danish pronunciation is borderline gibberish at times. Written danish is perfectly comprehensible.

Well, you're wrong. I'm born and raised in Malmö, I can get to denmark in 30 minutes via metro and I can't understand danish for shit. I have to speak English when I go there.

English grammar/word order is very similar to Scandinavian languages (except Icelandic). Dutch/German have weird complex grammars. But English vocab is more similar to West Germanic.
