I have serious focus and attention problems, I remember some doctor saying that I likely have ADHD back when I was in elementary school but nobody gave a shit because it was a meme (still kind of is). I constantly need new stimulation, most of my time is spent on PC shuffling between tens of different sites each half a minute, I can't watch a movie unless I take a break each 5 minutes, when taking a math exam at my uni a few weeks ago I would start question 1, move onto question 4, go back to question 2, go back to question 1 and do some more there, switching constantly, I just can't focus, it's 3rd time I moved onto finishing this thread right now.
This is runing my life, technically I have math and programming skills but it's worth shit when I can't focus for longer than 30 seconds.
This is a serious problem for me, are there any adderall users here? How expensive is it? How addictive is it? Is it hard to get without prescriptions? Do you need to increase your doses constantly? What else should I know before taking it?
Adderall?

user I know this is hippy dippy crazy talk, but don't do adderall. It will steal your soul. If you're having brain problems it's probably your diet. Amerimutts diet is designed to make us mentally unstable. Try cutting out all dairy, white bread/gluten, and sugar. Those foods are pretty much the trinity of spazzing ADHD autists
Hey can someone give me a quick rundown on Modafinil?
>It will steal your soul.
why, what are the downsides? I imagine finally being able to focus would be like my mind going super saiyan considering my achievements even in this terrible state
once you experience what life is like on it you'll feel like an autistic dumbass whenever you're not on it
I take it for my adhd and it changed my life I quit speaking so much, I can actually focus on my hobbies. I am excelling in school now when I was a drop out.
It's a scam OP. It gets you feeling really good and will require your thinking to make excuses as to why it's "good for you" and you "need it". This is because all it's doing is stimulating your reward centers in your brain by flooding it with dopamine. Then users feel hyped up and claim they're more motivated, because when you're on adderall you feel like you have to distract yourself with something all the time. It's a drug not a cure
I have heard ADHD is linked with sugar addiction
just smoke weed dude
It will get you addicted instantly and you'll find yourself giving any excuse to take more. Trust me from personal experience
Diagnosed with ADHD when I was 17. Doubled my GPA in a year.
I actually become more outgoing, witty, thoughtful, and creative on it. 15mg twice a day, which runs me about $15 a month on my high deductible plan. I'm just getting the cheap generic instant release stuff.
10ish years on the effect is lessened, so I'm not entirely sure how much of it is physical dependency vs add anymore.
Still, if you're at the end of your rope you should still consider it. Take L-Arginine with it though, it counteracts the blood vessel shrinking that adderall does which can temporarily shrink your dick.
Also don't jerk off on adderall. Feels too good and takes forever.
Have you tried weed? Lots of them are quite stimulating. Putting you in a very relaxed and focus mood, without the "couchlock" effect.
quite stimulating? lol
dude its supposed to relax him, hes stimulated enough nigga. he literally has ADHD
I relate you with the movie thing, I'll watch a short anime like K-on I'll always always stop it at 13 minutes no matter the show. I take a 5 minute break get distracted. I never finish an anime or hobby /goal. I had issues with maths when I was younger. I never could keep my mouth shit, I always spoke before I thought. Adderall works for me, Ritalin and Vyvanse don't. Also it is easier to go to a general practice than a psychiatrist.
I'll go more in detail, ever since I started my Adderall 20 mg 2x a day, my quality of life skyrocketed. I can focus on things that bore me, I can get things done like cleaning or taking out trash. My room is cleaner. I can focus on my long term goals rather than instant gratification like anime. It's non addictive for people with adhd, although it comes with side effects for me personally it causes back pain and stiff neck, hunger and makes me a tad anti social.
PS don't listen to dumb asses who say it's a fake disorder, especially on Jow Forums. Go to the doctor get a diagnosis and then try it and see the difference.
I'm exactly the same, but when I take Adderall I'll still get bored of anything that requires effort and just play video games or masturbate for 12 hours. Trust me when I say it isn't a cure to attention issues
It's basically diet adderall that is almost as effective with less of a risk of psychosis and addiction since there is little to no euphoria when taken responsibly.
Yes it's not a cure at all, what it does is create a baseline, you still need to get up and do things to fix the underlying issues.
It's not gonna put him to sleep is what I meant.
straight up, don't take it. especially without a prescription but in general I would say don't do it. shit is just meth. so if you want to need meth in order to function then take it. otherwise I would suggest (quite hypocritically) exercise, good diet, idk coffee or something if you need an extra kick.
I’ve been on 20mg Adderall XR for 8 years. It’s improved my quality of life and I still have a soul.
try modafinil
you would think your mind is going super saiyan when its literally the same. you don't want to be delusional user.
I never liked xr. It caused some bad side effects
I know this is gonna sound crazy to you but try going for 3 days without any digital stimulation at all(no internet, TV, cell phone, listening to music)and replace with exercise, reading, or just doing real shit with your hands. I guarantee you will be amazed at how calm and focused you feel at the end of the three days. Once you do the three days of complete abstinence and see the effect all that shit is having on your mind then you can come up with a strategy of how you wanna limit all that distracting shit going forward without completely abstaining.
have you ever tried to get off of it? is it even possible at this point? I know old people who have taken adderall their whole life and literally can't stop.
Adhd is a different beast. 90% of the time ADHD is just cause by overstimulation of the brain. Kids who are addicted to video games, candy, tv, internet, etc are likely to develop ADHD because they are addicted to the feeling they get when they're heavily distracted. When there's nothing to entertain them, like in school, kids will lash out in desperation for something to entertain them, because they can't handle sitting still or not being distracted for long periods of time. Weed, adderall, and other drugs will stimulate the brain to help fill the void left by whatever the kids are used to distracting themselves with. It's all a big scam but it's a real problem now
I had worse side effects on the immediate release. its like downing a cup of coffee instantly, and I am very sensitive to caffeine.
This. was diagnosed with ADD as a kid. Vaping weed helps me relax and focus weirdly enough.
To expand on what I wrote above, they have actually done studies that show that internet addiction physically changes the structure of the brain(using MRI) and that the brain structure goes back to normal after staying off the internet for a while
>I need adderall to finish animes
These anons are wise OP.
Stay above the influence
Erdos took amphetamines.
Doesn’t work the same for everyone, personally I take it a few times a week at work, or when I have a lot of house work to do. I’m able to stay motivated and focused to finish everything. I’m also lucky in where I don’t get addicted and need it to function. You could try a small one month trial, don’t be a faggot and get addicted.
This, it can make you focus once you're working on a task but if you don't have the motivation to start you'll just spend your time really focused on dicking around (for example I have exams coming up but I'm posting on Jow Forums and thinking about writing a song). It's a good time either way though. I like Dexedrine spansule cause I can feel it overlap with pot where I also tried methylphenidate which is cancelled out when you smoke a bowl.
Absolutely true. I worked a summer job deep in the wilderness without any internet besides a shitty 3G signal and my ability to focus increased dramatically. I read two fat books each week in my spare time.
Just keep in mind OP, the source of your attention problems and be as much external as it is internal.
Also I pay around 30 for a bottle of 60 which is a month supply. It last me way longer because I don’t take daily. It’s easy to get if you’re in college but a script is as easy as telling the doctor what you posted here. The only downside I experience is terrible dry mouth and sometimes irrability. I take 20mg and agreed with doctor not to go beyond that, if anything lower. Its in no way good for you, but if you need it once in a while you’ll be fine.
OP I would first try all these
And if those do not work go for adderall, but first try to find a natural solution.
I have stopped taking it for months without craving it. The only downside I have is loss of focus and weight gain. It’s a low dose so maybe it’s not as habit forming or possibly I’m not an addictive personality.
I like modafinil. Afinilexpress is a good site to use, and they have a 20% crypto discount (not trying to shill, but it could save a lot of money because it's quite expensive).
You can't use it every day, at most one week on, one week off. It's a narcolepsy drug so it will fuck with your sleep. Wake up early and take it first thing, you probably won't be able to sleep until 15-20 hours in if you take a full pill. I usually pop half of one and I'm fine. You DO NOT want to be taking this in the afternoon, you will not be able to sleep.
I'd start with a half dose the first time you use it, every other day, and work up from there if you feel like you need more.
You still have to get rid of your distractions, otherwise you'll just focus on your distractions. Not as bad as aderrall and no chance of getting hooked for most people. It gives no euphoria, just laser focus. Too much so, because you'll get tunnel vision and tasks that require you to focus on a lot of things at once (like driving) might go down the drain, so I wouldn't drive while on it.
Do some training.
I am lifting for 3 years now, bbing and powerlifting, but recently added HIT work and did wonders.
Ordinary lifting wont help much, add some explosive shit, power cleans, tons of pull ups, rowing cardio, sprints, think of it like a crossfit but with proper form.
I would only recommend as a last resort, OP. Adderall is addicting and you will want to take more of it. I used to take it a lot in college and I still have some now. I didn't like the way it made me feel dependent on it though. I only take it if I have a lot of things to accomplish
In australia adderall is illegal and we have dexamphetamine or vyvanse. We also must go to a psychiatrist for proper diagnosis, required to take regular urine drug tests for as harmless as pot and must have a clean criminal record. So many fucking regulations. I need to stay clean off weed for a fucking month before I can even get a chance of being diagnosed. OP if you're in the US don't take it for granted and just fucking take it. That shit is the real life spinach from popeye.
Ive shared a lot of your feelings at one point or another user, but even though I got a perscription my parent's insurance made it somewhere north of 200$ a month, so ive never taken it regularly.
Im gonna mirror what a lot of anons above are saying in that you should make sure to keeping your sugar intake to less then a can of pop a day. Cardio and or weight lifting also improves my daily quality of life immensely.
If you are also like me the biggest thing you can do for yourself is sustained attempts at cutting out distractions and bashing your head at stuff you want to do. You might be miserable for a couple months, but all the habits you developed as a teen will be very hard/nessacary to break.
For me weed doesnt do much on the focus front, but I do have a small stock of addxr on hand because it really helps me on long 12-16 hour study/work days. I break 40mg tablets in half once every other day at the most, and the effect is certainly profound. I find I get about 8-10 hours of less static, more motivation, and I get frustrated when I CANT work on my current projects. Tbh I couldnt imagine taking it every day as it puts a lot of stress on me and can make it hard to sleep if I dont take it at least 12 hours before I sleep. I take it once every other day at the most to make sure I get a good nights sleep before using it, otherwise the effect is much less helpful. Also, make sure you eat plenty when you first ingest it and keep food on hand throughout the day. You should certainly just get it through a doctor if you can though.
0.02 from a guy who this may, will be the first in thier family to of ever gotten a college degree
Don't do Adderal
Do xans
Much better
Dairy and sugar are good for you. Looks like you fell for the (((paleo))) meme. Look up Ray Peat.
I checked what xanax is and it seems unrelated, it's some anti depressant, I need something that will simply let me fucking focus on one thing that I want to do.
Unironically microdosing LSD is the way to go. Do it like once every three days. You'll be amazed at how good you get.
Buy it from India.
>what is benzodiazepine withdrawal
Worst WD out there, literally hell
OP dont do drugs like adderrall they will only numb out your symptoms but not address the underlying medical condition.
It sounds to me like you might suffer from TMS (Tension Myositis Syndrome). Of course Im not a doctor and wouldnt diagnose you from over the internet.
But check out a book called "The Mind Body Prescription" from Dr. John Sarno. It changed my life and might help you too.
5 year adderal addict here. Don't do it. It changes your brain chemistry. It'll change your personality. There will be people that tell you it's the greatest drug. That's what I said too. It means they're still addicted and take it everyday like a religion. It's basically legal cocain. You will be stepping into the unknow abyss. Do not let it control you. I thought I was super human. My SAT scores went up 400 points. Be careful it will destroy you though.
pretty sure it's the good ol' ADD/ADHD, all the symptoms are there and even doctors said I had it when I was a kid, my life quality is really low because of it so I'm looking for anything that can help me
like cutting a tab into much smaller pieces?
Get tested and get an actual prescription. You probably are ADHD. The drug works a lot better if you develop an actual work ethic before you take it though, it isn't a magic pill that makes all your problems go away.
Except it isn't an actual treatment for ADHD. If OP's a neurotypical moda's preferable but if he had a learning disorder he needs to either accept a life of mediocrity or actually treat it.
>non addtictive
Hahaha good luck stopping for more than a couple days, you will be so unproductive
I made this thread.

Report so far: Strattera has been quite good at curving my impulses. It's not perfect but it makes me quite focused during my work.
It's gonna be of great help for everything that requires focus and concentration including school
Tried Adderal, Vyvanse, Concerta, and Focalin.
Vyvanse is by far the best one but pretty expensive.
Adderal IR are to go to. Generic versions can be very affordable too.
Download the app GoodRX to get the best prices.
I have a prescription for adderal and choose to take 20mg xr one day per week at work. I typically get 3 normal days work done on that one day I take adderal. That is my happy medium spot to not get addicted or crave it.
I like more than anything having the option to take it if I'm feeling stressed about my workload etc.
I got prescribed it when I was in 1st year uni for engineering.
Now I'm graduated and working as a structural engineer. I'm happy with 1 crazy productive day at work per week with 4 not too productive days. Of I have hard deadlines approaching, I may take 2 per week. Just my 2 cents. Go to your doc, tell him your symptoms. Say you heard from a friend that they had similar feelings etc and once they were prescribed adderal xr, things did a 180 for them.
Total opposite for me, I have really great, in-depth conversations with people and can focus on reading and work way better. Funny enough weed just gives me anxiety. I get really confused by the "just smoke weed adderall is evil because uhhh" type attitude that seems so prevelant. I like a good indica tho
I feel the same op.
Recently started supping omega 3... Has helped with my memory and slightly aided concentration
Also vivid as fuck dreams
HEY DUMBASSES WITH ADHD
Just getin your attention

The only non-drug interventions I know of for impaired brain coordination is Hatha Yoga. You only have to do it 30mins to an hour a day for 8-12 weeks. Incorporate lots of breathing and balancing type poses.
GOOD LUCK
this. i took only 10mg a day from roughly 2014 thru 2017. i haven't taken any since december and have literally done fucking NOTHING for almost half a year. i wake up and just sit on my couch all day shitposting on biz. i take a trip out to get lunch and maybe go for an hour long walk. the entire rest of my day is spent in basically a pseudo-vegetative state. it genuinely made me retarded as fuck. i have so much shit to get done over the next couple years and i have zero motivation or focus.
that said when i was on it i was a god among men, it killed all of my anxiety and nerves, i became insanely confident and was more productive than i'd ever been. every aspect of life was awesome. i'm honestly going to have to get back on it after this month. i can't fuck around anymore.
based
prescribed dexedrine for 10+ years here.
it's garbage once the euphoria stage wears off and you're basically a tight piece of shit all the time. also long term your hairline, and your health in general, is fucked, especially if you end up abusing it (almost inevitably you will)
if you're going to approach it, approach it honestly- it's there to get you high and to help you do stuff you don't want to do.
try breathing exercises and reading on the regular if you want to build focus/attention naturally and in a sustainable not-gonna-fuck-you-over-eventually kinda way.
Lel, tell that to diabetes fags
>if you're going to approach it, approach it honestly- it's there to get you high and to help you do stuff you don't want to do
except it's not, I for the love of god cannot focus, I get constantly distracted with my thoughts, constantly have to do something with my feet and hands, this is hell
