However Israel's founding myth (jews fleeing persecution) is identical if not a direct copy of America's founding myth (puritans fleeing persecution) therefore Americans side with them by default. The only time Americans reconsidered our relationship was in the late 90s, but then 9/11 happened and completely ended that discussion.
To get an idea of what Israel is to America, America was originally what Israel became: a place for Jews to escape persecution in Europe. Israel's main problems in America aren't their actions insomuch their redundant purpose, but even here they can justify themselves by being more Jewish than American Jews, shaming them.
