What do you guys think about eating reindeer? I've seen many amerimutts saying that it's unethical. Why is that? Because rudolph the red-nosed reindeer is so lovely? It's pretty funny to see the double standards. An amerimutt is horrified by people eating reindeer while he eats big macs on a daily basis.

I always wanted to try horse.

Have you never not eating's meetwursti?

Some finnish people eat horse every week. There is this sausage, mettwurst, which includes horse and its very popular

Eat reindeer several times per week.
Very good. Especially smoked.
Reindeer is some of the cheapest meat you can buy here in the north.

eating meat is degenerate

Kill yourself.

It's also funny because reindeer is probably the most ethical meat you can get.

suicide is degenerate

A majority of Americans don't believe reindeer exist or think they're a mythical creature like a unicorn. If they knew it was just some retarded animal they wouldn't care at all.

is THIS the power of Finnish cuisine?

good food

This looks sad

Nope, in reality biggest brand mostly use pork.

I heard that wine made from penis of deer are good for health

Why are americans so stupid?

Well reindeer don't exist here. If it weren't for good ol' St. Nick, I literally never would have heard of them. To truly answer your question though, it's just that there are a lot of us, so statistically there will be a lot of retards.

one or the other

Both

Honestly I hate deer so much, and i'd eat reindeer if I could just because it has deer in it's name.

Unironically this.

What's it taste like? I'd imagine a bit more gamey than regular deer and maybe a bit more fatty?

Reindeer is extremely lean actually. Almost zero fat. But it tastes very gamey yes, also a taste you can't really describe.
It's perfect for jerky and other dried meats.

Is it tender at all? The way it looks in OP's picture makes it look good and tender, but the way you describe it seems like it'd be like eating a puck

It depends on how you cook it. The meat it self is very tender even though it's lean.
When I fry it on the grill you can cut it with a spoon. Not even joking. But it's very important you don't use too much heat. Reindeer is a slow cooked meat.

Sounds like it's perfect in a stew

Sure is. Reindeer stew is like the main food among many here in Lapland.

>smoked reindeer heart with sea salt and pepper
It's so damn good. God damn.
Also a heart only costs like 4-5 dollars here. I would eat it more often if I had the time to dry/smoke it.
You can buy pre-smoked but I like doing it my self.

It's juicy, tender, full of taste and just amazing in general.
Try it if you ever get the chance.

Now I want some.

Do yourself a service; find a fresh heart ~1 hours after slaughter from some local sami and cook it medium-rare. You can thank me later.

Done that many times, I am Sápmi.

tfw i called my guy and he told that he is going to slaughter one tomorrow and i can get the heart.

Good guy!
My uncle is a reindeer herder so I always have hearts and such available.
