I'm a senior analyst at the Ontario Teacher's Pension Plan...

I'm a senior analyst at the Ontario Teacher's Pension Plan. One of the largest pensions in the world with more than $189.5 billion dollars in assets.

Ask me anything!

How will you deal with the bond bubble popping?

How well are you funded/capitalized? What's your current allocations across the various classes, broadly? What returns do you project?

Lastly, any interest in crypto?

When will Ontario housing bubble pop

you fuck any hot co-op students?

Maritimer here. Fuck off with your comfy pension.

who the fuck cares and I live in Ottawa.

We are more than adequately prepared for this. Our investments are quite broad but still conservative. We have major investments in commercial real estates as well as utilities which provide stable returns for immediate paying present retirees. The biggest challenge is that the number of active teachers per retiree has declined significantly. It once was 4 to 1, it is now at 1.3 to 1 because of increased life expectancy and early retirement ages. It's a major concern however, but we are more heavily invested in Canadian/provincial bonds which are higher yielding on average.

I work exclusively in the natural resources sector, especially with forestry which is what I did before being employed by OTPP. Overall, timber prices have been climbing very rapidly and our investments have had very high returns. It is a very stable investment but as a resource it can fluctuate considerably. Over the past year we've had returns of higher than 50%.

No interest in cryptos. OMERS, another provincial retirement firm in Ontario has a venture capital fund which is actively looking into blockchain related tech.

Why'd you buy Ubisoft?

How do I opt out of subsidizing leftist anti white indoctrination in Canadian public schools? I am a Canadian citizen.

Why did you sell the Leafs? Now Robbers and Bell own them

Private schooling. I went to private Christian schools all my life.

So we can indoctrinate kids in the classroom to play more games and earn higher returns.

oh you're a memelord

The correct answer is I don't have a choice.

What natural resource in undervalued?

Do the real analysts at Ontario Teachers know you're larping as them? If I post a link to one of them on Twitter, will they be angry? I think it would be fun for HR there to look and see if any of their people are browsing Jow Forums during business hours. You know, because you're a fucking faggot.

since canada + teachers = ultimate SJW... what SJW coins are you considering other than XLM?

What qualifications do you have for your job (i.e. degree, mba, etc)?
Also roughly how old are you and how old are your colleagues on average.
I am 1 year out of graduation (engineering) and am working as an engineering consultant now (in Toronto) and would like to consider a career switch into finance. Do you think this is feasible and/or do you know of any colleagues that have engineering degrees as their qualification for being an analyst?

I wonder what they'll think of this thread.

Well, I guess now twitter.com/OtppInfo will know exactly who you are.

I hope you like unemployment.

Finance is literally the easiest field to get into. You don't need any relevant qualifications. My sister just had an arts degree and now she's a vice president at an investment firm.

kys you sjw cock sucker.
You will be lynched with the jews and niggers in due time.

Do it pussy

Why so angry? Surely letting Ontario Teacher's know about this thread could have no effect on a senior analyst there. Why would they care if someone is larping about working there on the most notorious (and blocked) autism picture trading board in the known universe? And posting there from company equipment and on the company's time? Surely they'd have NO problem with any of it.

WhyUsomad, bro?

How do you know I haven't? Why would I do it publically, when a PM is just as good?

:D

It's okay Mohammed. Your time will come.

Engineering is a good degree in its own right, you definitely should be able to get into it if you make the right career moves. It shouldn't be a challenge at all.

UofT. Bachelor of Commerce, Finance & Economics. Worked in the timber industry for many years out in BC. Then got an mba and found myself at OTPP.

The most senior employees are all in their 50's+. But I'd say the average age in the office is late 30's/40's.

So angry, over something so innocent! Why the hate, bro?

PS - I'm whiter than you are, but hey, you tried.

Is that why you buy stupid shit like video game companies and beanie babies?

Thanks for the information, I appreciate it.
A couple more questions then...
Are you paid strictly a salary, or does your pay depend at all on the investment guidance/recommendations you make?

Also, can you please recommend me some resources that in your opinion would be highly valuable/foundational knowledge for a career (entry) into a job in finance.
Perhaps if you remember the titles of undergrad courses you found particularly useful (I can look up the contents of the course through the syllabus on my own), useful textbooks, other books, required/reccomended software skills etc?
Basically anything you think it would be worth my time to invest in learning. These are my final questions. Hope you are still around to provide me with some insight.

Yeah, i thought so. That's all you got? LOL. Oh noes, an anonfag called me a jew, whatever will I do now?

LOL.

Weak assed little faggot.

How does it feel to be so balls deep in Canadian real estate (e.g. Cadillac Fairview) that when the bond/interest rate/real estate bubble pops this shitty country will enter stagnation that would make the Japanese uneasy?

More info to send to twitter.com/OtppInfo, I'm sure they'd love to know their senior management is spending time with the kiddies on Jow Forums, lol.

What are you gona do when the pension ponsi collapses?

how fucked is the pension by demographics

are millennial even paying into the pension

are you considering adding cryptocurrency to your portfolio

Back to plebbit you fucking faggot.

OTPP is fully funded(105%) and has been for the past 5 years. New people are paying in but as I said earlier retirees are living much much longer than they used to.

Cadillac Fairview isn't involved in residential properties whatsoever. I think their investments in shopping malls are bad though, which is why they've shifted more towards office space.

Salary + Bonus based on performance + full benefits

Focus on getting management experience as an engineer and try to work yourself up that way, save up some money, then get an MBA. This would be the easiest and most direct route to senior level investments. You need to try and understand the dynamics of a market and what makes them tick in a very intricate way. It's impossible to understand the entire economy, so try to focus on a niche you find interesting.

>Focus on getting management experience as an engineer and try to work yourself up that way, save up some money, then get an MBA.
Thanks for the feedback. My company will pay for me to do my MBA when the time comes, and I would like to try and take advantage of that when I get there.

>You need to try and understand the dynamics of a market and what makes them tick in a very intricate way.
Thanks. But do you have any specific recommendations on where I can look (perhaps from your personal experience) i.e. courses, books etc?

In my opinion you need to have a passion for something in order to be successful at it.

Says a lot that you skipped this question

Exactly. I have been rather obsessive with the stock market (both macro and micro events) from early high school.
I have been rather actively trading from my TFSA for some years now, and previously I spent countless hours testing my trading theory's and intuitions paper trading.

I have taken the only two econ courses I was allowed to take in my undergrad (Micro and Macro) which I was very interested in them (I did very well in them, but they were very easy courses imo).
I have a textbook and course notes from a friend who took "Personal Finance" which I will be going through.
I know my passion is finance, and I think I will have a more fulfilling and enjoyable career working with and focusing on financial markets.

When i worked as an accounting clerk i was surprised how much these fuckers get on a pension.

Please kill yourself you reddit meme arrow quoting faggot.

What happened to this place? Why is everyone so gay now? You don't need to repost the fucking text you're replying to in a mangolian basket weaving forum you queer loving, Reddit posting homosexual.

It wasn't my decision so I couldn't comment on it. I know as much about it as you do.

Focus on supplementing your existing knowledge in engineering by going into the economic side of businesses you consult for then. A lot of my engineering friends from university ended up in completely different fields. If you want to learn more about economics in itself I'm sure you could take online courses at a university and expand your knowledge. But seriously, the best way to learn is through work. I've learned more in a year or two of work than my entire university education.

Which shitcoins are you invested in personally

Bought Bitcoin at $200, started selling at $10K

MILKY MILKY WARM AND TASTY!

Get me a job I've applied to otpp

What do you think of the Libshits currently running Ontario?

I just paid $950 in taxes, safety test, emmision test, etc.
just making a nice $300 beater comply with all the government bullshit.

Ontario is the worst place on Earth to own a car.

Highest insurance rates, taxes on second-hand vehicles, mandatory e-test that you'll fail even if you have any kind of engine light even if it's not related to an emissions problem...

Damn you are pathetic.

We need a new government but I'm not sure Doug Ford can handle it. I'll be voting PC anyway.

What's your annual return rate?

What can you do about all the teacher being post modernist neo-marxist types nowadays? Will my children be indoctrinated or should I have them home schooled?

Share the love.

Attached: Spring2018.jpg (697x242, 41K)

If you don't blow out your account you'll be audited, TFSA isn't for actively trading dumbass

Why did you drop PF Olsen as forest managers in New Zealand?

I know they are shit but your relationship had been a long one?

yes, you should definitely "have them home schooled" so the rest of the kids wont have to deal with their inherited autism.

Thought you were OP for a sec, thank god, kill yourself.

What are some good fields to enter in finance?

I've always worked in financial risk area, which area has good upside?

I also work as Senior Analyst in a financial government agency doing risk management. I was given Acting Sr Manager due to staff change, but wasn't successful to get permanent Sr Manager role. And likely lose the title in a month or two. I am 31. What should my next step be? How do you deal with office politics?

The appointment of Jane Taylor and Traci Houpapa lead to a real shakeup in our investments in NZ timber. They are really trying to optimize timber operations in the country. Ultimately it came down to price, competitors were able to offer better services for less. Olsen was pretty inconsistent with service and was falling behind on several targets substantially which were important in maintaining good relations with stakeholders(Maori trusts, NZ government, etc)

Keep going after it dude. I think what you need to look for is a new place of employment if they won't keep you there.
