googled Crystall Falls, MI and it has a population of like 1,500 people, its some tiny little town apparently. Doesn't surprise me that properties so cheap in a place like that, probably not an abundance of jobs.

You can find property all over the world that's dirt cheap if you're willing to live in more remote areas. Like if you wanted to live in Vancouver, BC you'd be paying $1M+ for a one-bedroom shithole, whereas if you went to northern BC out in the forest you could probably buy a few acres for like $10,000 or some shit, but you'd be far from any big cities.

It's in a touristy region of Wisconsin/upper peninsula Michigan where a lot of yuppies from Chicago and Milwaukee have summer homes. Part of the reason its so cheap is because tourists want to buy homes just outside town on lakes. Only the townies who work in the service sector want to live in the actual town.

Because real estate in CA will always appreciate. As much as i hate California (grew up in LA, leaving was the best decision I ever made in my life), buying any property there is a solid long term investment if you can afford it.
