Double Transactions

Way back in early 2017 i received a double transaction to my wallet from some shitty BTC buying website. Now i get an email saying they want it back, subtly threatening legal consequences. Do they have anything on me? Whats the best reply?

No reply at all.

Ignore it.

If you aren't larping, just say you were hacked.

>Do they have anything on me?
No.
>Whats the best reply?
Thanks for the free money, hope to do business with you soon again

"Legal consequences" gave me a nice laugh though, thanks for that.
In any case, don't worry about it, they can't do anything, but don't use their service again(not that you need to)

Alright, thanks. Is that based on intuition or have you heard of cases like this before?

Sweet, thanks.

Screw them , ignore , and sever all ties and connections and enjoy the free money. How much roughly btw did they send?

give back what is not yours

0.16 BTC twice. Wasn't all that much money back then though

There has been a couple of anons with a similar case, but they got a double transaction from a popular exchange. There has been some debate if the exchanges share some kind of a blacklist if he was verified, but the general consensus was to tell them to go eat a dick and never use the exchange again.

If this was some shitty btc buying website like you said, you have nothing to worry. Legally they can't touch you, you can thank the poor regulation of the crypto market for that.
Even if they had your name and whatnot, they couldn't do anything about it. This is their attempt of scaring you into giving back the money, when it was their mistake in the first place

Like i said. Don't worry about it

Possession is 9/10ths of the law.

you could say the bitcoins are gone now and you are willing to reimburse them for the price at the time of said double purchase in fiat

could be fun

It is technically a crime if you knowlingly keep the money. The prospect of them actually enforcing it and contacting local authorities, etc. is incredibly slim... especially for only ~$1k worth of BTC, and especially especially if they're located outside your country.

Ignore the emails, and by the slim chance anything ever happens to you, just play dumb. "Oh, I never paid attention to the amount, I just assumed I had XX." or "Oh, I just thought it went up in value."

Actually, do this but don't follow through. Could get a quick laugh out of the response

>~$1k worth of BTC
Wasn't worth that much back then. Price of the time of trading is the price he "owes" them, no matter any future price increases

>It is technically a crime
>Ignore the emails
Will do. They don't even have my real (postal) address, they couldn't even send me a letter now that i think about it.
>especially especially if they're located outside your country
They are, but within the EU

>but within the EU
Doesn't change a thing

how on earth did we get 17 replies in and none of you are wise to the fact you don't have email addresses on wallets.

ffs.

Just ignore it.

He probably need to register on the site with an email to use it

I had an email address in the account on that BTC selling website.

just ignore

if forced, at most offer to return the then-value of it, do not return the BTC value

just pay it back

it's early 2018, tell them you've traded it. It's been a year, screw 'em

Got the Same Mail but answered and told them i can pay the price it was worth last year and their response was they cant accept that they want the Bitcoins.... Or the market value as Bank Transfer...

oh well they lose

Why has it taken then almost a year to reply?

They have no legal ground to request them back, just ignore them. There isn’t any possible way they can get enforce you to give them back.

After routine double-checking their system they sai

Please tell them niggers took your bitcoin and post the response
If dubs OP must comply
