Seriously question that I never got to ask in that one hijab thread that was here the other night.
If my current understanding as to the main reasons for women wearing one of these headscarves is due to modesty and to deflect the interest of boys.
How come I always see women wear a ton of makeup and jewelry with these scarves? Doesn't that defeat the purpose of them? Are they merely just a fashion accessory now than a serious religious artifact?

Not really. This is the "official" reason, but most women wear it either because it's a part of their culture (a bit like it is our culture not to show tits/penises in public) or because their husbands/fathers want them to wear it.
I remember I watched a few episodes of this British sitcom about a Muslim family where the daughter never wore her hijab unless he was present. She would quickly don it before he walked into the room since she was clearly suppose to be that one "rebel" character even though she has her parents fooled into thinking she was that good Qur'an reading girl.

Haven't heard anything like that, but since there are about 8000 rapes per year in Germany (according to statista.com), that isn't that unlikely

They don’t really want to wear them but have to. So they look for anything else they can do for beauty.
If you go to any western European city you will find the beauty industry is dominated by them. They run nail salons, beauty salons, skin salons, etc
They also really love their heels which reveal their feet. It’s super hot

No absolutely not.
Also mind you maybe 5% of their women wear one. Most of them shriveled Turkish grannies. I only had 1 girl in my highschool with a headscarf and she was Somali. Somalis and Eritreans wear them 100% of the time even little girls
They wear the hijab because they'll be honored killed or be called sluts if they don't

Most Syrian and Iraqi women here wear hijabs. However, their daughters often don't, even if they are 13+ y.o.

Well I cannot really speak for the real Muslim infested parts of the country.
But I grew up in a Turk colony and no girls had hijabs there. Also no young women either, though some did marry at very young ages.
To my knowledge the groups with most hijabs are Saudis, Afghanis, Pakis and Somalis. We only have a few refugees from #2 and #4 but no real sizable population.
Moroccans and Turks are much more prone to being generic turbosluts

I have only once seen a white convert. No white women is ever going to wear a hijab. As a matter of fact they would rather try to ‘liberate’ Muslim women from theirs

OP I think you overestimate how important religion is to the average Arab/Turk in western-Europe. It’s like how catholics have to go to mass to please their grandmothers once in a while.
A few days back it was good weather in the NL so I went outside to have a beer on a terrace. 1 in 4 tables were ‘muslims’ drinking alcohol
