how's that even an answer to my observation? I'm talking about the marketcap in "BTC" - in your general Motors example this would mean marketcap in "General Motors shares". So, if you calculate the marketcap of volvo in "General Motors shares" + all "General Motors shares" that General Motor is worth then you end up with more "General Motors shares" in total than there are in existence which is obv wrong because they don't exist.

The thing is that nobody knows about what is the total of ALL the bitcoin in existence. 22,867,840 only the amount of circulating bitcoin based on just the top 2 coins in CMC. To get a more precise number, maybe you want to calculate the total for Top 100 coins!
