GO ON HOME BRITISH SOLDIERS GO ON HOME! HAVE YOU GOT NO FUCKING HOMES OF YOUR OWN

Ok I'm confused, I keep seeing stories like this. Why the fuck does Britain have control over what can and can't be done with an ill person and have power to override next of kin?

How the fuck do they have any right to prevent him from being taken home, or taken to another country?

Britain has gone full 1984.

>A High Court judgment of 20 February 2018 stated that a MRI scan taken in August 2017 revealed that "70% of Alfie's brain had been destroyed", a fourth scan taken in February 2018 showed "almost total destruction of Alfie's brain, with fluid identical to water or Cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) now present where brain matter should be". Following the conclusion of a court case Royal Courts of Justice in London, Mr Justice Hayden concluded that "I am satisfied that continued ventilatory support is no longer in Alfie’s best interest".

>In his High Court judgment of 11 April 2018, Mr Justice Hayden remarked that "by the end of February the connective pathways within the white matter of the brain which facilitate rudimentary sensation – hearing, touch, taste and sight, had been obliterated. They were no longer even identifiable on the MRI scan".

god save the queen

When it comes to children and doctors and parents disagree the matter can be taken to courts where many medical experts, probably with a bit more knowledge and evidence than Jow Forums virgins, make a decision. In this case, doctors and a judge agreed that it's not kind to keep this boy alive seeing as 70% of his brain is irreversibly damaged. It might not sound fair on the face of it but the people who made these decisions are medical and ethical experts so we should probably listen to them

>"I am satisfied that continued ventilatory support is no longer in Alfie’s best interest".
I think I get his argument, but is it really in the kids interest to die like this, instead of given a treatment after that he could still die?
The outcome is probably the same, but I'm not sure if you can really argue that way.

>probably with a bit more knowledge

Considering they completely refuse to do many treatments in your country for some reason then pretend they don't exist in other countries for kids to be taken to, I have my doubts on your doctors abilities.

Americans had that retarded myth of "death panels" with Obamacare but it appears you guys absolutely have them. I'd rather swim home injured than visit one of your hospitals because it seems once you go in, you never come out.

The part you're quoting is about the removal of life support. Remember that the life support is being paid for by the NHS and consuming NHS resources which could be being used on someone who isn't literally brainless with 0% chance of recovery.

At least they didn't give the kid to shitaly, it'd be already dead

I know, but why aren't they allowing the parents to leave the country with the kid? The british tax payer wouldn't have anything to do with the whole rest at this point, since there were a lot of foreigners that claimed that they'd pay the treatment in a foreign land.

I think it's on ethical grounds, though I don't know what law specifically they're using. One of the judges said it would be "wrong and pointless" to take him to Italy. I suppose the ethical judgement is that it's cruel to artificially prolong the life (and potential suffering) of someone of someone with no chance of recovery who will be stuck in a vegetative state for the rest of their existence.

your brain is absolutely minuscule

Give me the rundown.

>kid is literally a vegetable with a melted brain
>his chavvy parents are parading him around for their chance in the spotlight
>yanks have decided this means the NHS is ebil gommunism that killed the child

Cool what are we doing about it?

You wouldn't be so upset if they weren't right.

trying to break into the hospital to attack the staff, unironically

>americans

Now that sounds like a good vacation.

sending the hospital stuff death threats on twitter, and threatening to grab their ayy arr 15 to rescue him from the hospital
yanks are a strange folk

Nice, new HL case law advocating for euthanasia.

Not allowing people who are obviously beyond any help to die and letting them slowly rot away in complete pain because "muh morals" is just insane.

why would they have power iver italian citizen ?
isnt one of the reason why you brexit ? because european justice > uk justice ? but when its the other way around its fair ? kek

wasnt so long ago an itallian got no scoped after jumping a railing
we dont like them desu

This is what happens when you socialize medicine, everyone.

Those responses are cancer

>11 billions

It got taken to the European court which agreed with the UK supreme court

>ethical experts
Lol.
BTW, why did they keep you alive despite the fact ~90% of your brain is damaged?

shits and giggles

It's a kid suffering from a neurodegenerative disorder. By August of last year "70% of Alfie's brain had been destroyed", and by February of this year:
>"[Alfie's] brain [was] entirely beyond recovery"
>"the brain was now only able to generate seizure" with "progressive destruction of the white matter of the brain which Dr R interpreted as now appearing almost identical to water and cerebrospinal fluid (CSF)"
>"by the end of February the connective pathways within the white matter of the brain which facilitate rudimentary sensation – hearing, touch, taste and sight, had been obliterated. They were no longer even identifiable on the MRI scan".

The parents wanted to keep the life support on, but the courts ruled against it. Then the Pope and Italian government got involved, with the Pope saying he could go to a hospital administered by the Vatican in Rome and with Italy granting him citizenship, but the courts refuse to allow the parents to take him out of the hospital he's currently in. Life support was removed a few days ago.

fucking t*igs

why do you care if someone else wanna try something ?

because he pays for it

Fuck the y*nkoids they really do hate britain

if he dies on the way to italy, then the doctors who let him go are responsible for his death

he would not pay anything if another country took hospital charges.. in fact it's just a political decision over a poor kid to show muuuh uk stronk..

he will eventually die anyway since they cut life support stuff

the sooner the better

He was a vegetable without the possibility of ever recovering. Why the fuck would you keep him alive?

Read the post. His brain is totally gone. His abilities to hear, feel, taste or see are lost forever. There is nothing anybody can do about it.

The opinion of the courts seems to be that it is unethical and inhumane to prolong his life in that state.

>in fact it's just a political decision over a poor kid to show muuuh uk stronk..
Government has had absolutely nothing to do with this case. It's entirely the decision of the courts.

maybe, but you cant ignore parents distress, if another country is willing to help them, even if its placebo tier, why not let him go ?

Pathetic honestly. May supporters are scum.

>He was a vegetable without the possibility of ever recovering.
yes we already know he was a brit

his parents love him

It's not up to the doctors it's up to God.

>we love our son so we want him to keep suffering a """life""" without any senses and bound to a bed and tubes

Attached: 1518638254649.jpg (353x400, 20K)

How exactly would an AR-15 help in this case? Does he think the police would just sit back and ignore him walking into a hospital and threatening medical staff with a gun? And how does he think he's going to get out of the country exactly even if he manages to take the child out of the hospital?

Someone this dumb shouldn't be allowed to own a firearm.

if they want to do it, why not keep him hooked up?

> muh precious tax dollars

The child would use the AR-15 to defend himself

>Following the conclusion of a court case Royal Courts of Justice in London, Mr Justice Hayden concluded that "I am satisfied that continued ventilatory support is no longer in Alfie’s best interest".
Literally a gay mason.
YASS KWEEN
SLAY THEM BABIES

Bruh his brain was basically liquid at that point,

The parents would rather take him somewhere else, but the NHS and Br*tish legal system demands BLOOD.

>massive doctoral consensus that it's unethical to keep brainchild alive
>random tabloid article

Hmmmmmmm.

Hope those doctors vote for your death desu.

>"doctoral consensus" can decide "ethics"
>other countries' medical system supports the parents
FAK DAT IT'S ARE NHS INNIT BRUV

Attached: he cry.jpg (392x296, 16K)

italy isnt willing to help, just to keep him on life support
italian doctors have agreed theres nothing that could be done

It's EXACTLY like 1984! Remember that chapter when Winston and Julia had a child with no capacity to hear, see, smell nor respond to touch and Big Brother with his fancy neurologists and paediatricians marched in and demanded the child should have the dignity to die?

QUACK QUACK QUACK

So the rest of the text doesn't bother you?

not really, its like somebody lying at a justice court, why would you keep believing what he has to say ?

88742697
Bit rude
Yeah I mean if we completely ignore the doctors the father had a really good point..

I don't remember reading that

If I was braindead I wouldn't want by body kept alive.

wouldnt have much say tbf

>Jow Forums is suddenly against pulling the plug on a literal braindead person that has no chance of survival and contribution to society but supports eugenics, IQ culling, and execution of the mentally ill.
Why the fuck do they think they have the moral authority?

Attached: 1517636748425.png (601x508, 127K)

if you had a kid, you would to everything possible to maintain him alive, there are steps between deny and acceptance.

Just like how your grandma voted for my dick?

Remedial care BTFO! I love dying of infections now!?

I'm sick of seeing this story being pushed in our media so much

>Yeah I mean if we completely ignore the doctors the father had a really good point..
I'm not saying the doctors are wrong in what the outcome is going to be, it's just perverse that they extend their own authority to keep the child in their care rather than letting the parents have any rights to their son at all.
The child's going to die, they say, but it's somehow imperative to exert as much raw state power as possible? For whose benefit?

It can also work the other way:
>A parent who wants to pursue a treatment that is ineffective and potentially prolongs suffering is treated similarly in law to a parent who refuses life-saving treatment that is very likely to work.
>For example, there have been many cases where the courts have sided with the doctors against the wishes of parents who are Jehovah's Witnesses and refuse blood transfusions due to their faith.
bbc.co.uk/news/uk-43893709

can the parents not afford care, and it's expensive to keep him hooked up to the machine?

Otherwise, I don't know why the courts have power to decide who gets what care and when.

Attached: image.jpg (530x482, 67K)

HAHAHA holy shit. Perfect timing.

So?
Enforcing live-saving/life-improving treatment is different from enforcing death in a very particular way. They could wash their hands of his treatment if he's terminal, but why insist that he die, and die on their terms, to the extent of blocking him from receiving treatment from other sources? It just seems to be for the sake of establishing their own unchallengeability.

Well, for all the faults with American liberalism, it's basically true that once the government provides, they can choose not to provide, or to mandate the provision in a particular way.
What's weird in this case is, to my understanding, their obstruction is not to him being provided care at their expense, but to being provided care at all.

>70% of the brain is destroyed
>inable to sense pain
>hurr durr keeping the kid alive will just cause suffering!
>we must starve him to death

Typical britbongistani

abortion is morally much worse than this case, I don't know why people are so triggered by this

> abortion
> woman decides to abort her own baby
> baby daddy doesn't give a shit usually

> this kid
> government decides to kill the kid
> parents give a shit

vote tory

Except I wasn't arguing for American style medical economics, I was in fact arguing against depriving people of medical care.
It's even more sinister in this case, because there doesn't actually seem to be a specific economic triage motivation for depriving the child of care, considering he could have been treated abroad in the time that was spent arguing over the government's right to enforce death on him.

oi wheres your baby loicense

it's still murder, only in this case the kid is basically already dead

chuckled

>come on guys when corporations abuse people it is 1000x worse than when the government does it.

kys leaf

the difference is that someone cares now. Cletus the trailer park meth addict and Tyrone don't care

chav genocide when desu

Soon mashallah

Attached: spicy meatball.jpg (900x599, 38K)

that makes absolutely 0 difference

>a person with a fully functional brain dying is comparable to a vegetable
I assume your so invested in this while defending your corporate masters because you yourself are a brain dead child.

The kid isn't going to recover. Just euthanise him and be done with it.

>come on guys the mean corporations control all aspects of life. So what if the government has death panels to decide whether a kid needs to die or not lmao

How can you morally grandstand over someone being exploited and discarded for being weak (and likely less than intelligent), when you say it's okay when the victim is totally weak and the victimisers are those who say they're for the good of society?

lets be reasonable
its not even a human being, its brain is mush
just toss it out
