It's considered the easiest language in school, so easy in fact that I chose not to learn it.

It's no more illogical and incoherent than English(which made me struggle to learn it for over half a decade) Maybe it's because English takes its roots in German?

I can't understand a lick of German and I'm above average when it comes to fluency. We've strayed too far from the schnitzels and have adopted too much from the frogs and romans.

While that's true, English atleast has the decency to remove a lot of the chaff like gendered nouns, cases and so on. So while the rest can be illogical at times, it's also simpelr to learn because you don't need to remember anything but the word.

It's not that hard a language (learned a bit in High School), but it could be hard to find German media. Or enjoyable German media, at that.

How easy English is to learn and get a grip of aside, I learned English because I sought out books, watched movies, played games, and so on.
But when you're learning German? German media? Eeeeeeeh, it's lackluster and bland for the most part (books are great, though) - please don't be offended by this, Germans.
Ironically, it was harder for me to learn Russian than German because of all of the similarities it had to my own language.

I never said ours was easy to learn or logical (I doubt any slav language is) but atleast we have the decency to have tens after hundreds and before units.

I had some old and dusty books of many German thinkers handed to me free of charge, and although the language in them was a bit different and sometimes, dated, it was interesting to read them. The language in them flowed nicely.
Maybe I'm just weird and I find things like that interesting, though. I haven't actually got as much experience with German literature as I'd like to have so I can't give any recs.

I was looking for something more comedic. English has no shortage of authors who managed to be both funny and interesting and Czech isn't poor in that department either. Germans...
