Religion is much more than belief. You can study people's beliefs and ideals of a certain era and what deities they used to explain certain phenomenons

>In legends, Rübezahl appears as a capricious giant, gnome, or mountain spirit. With good people he is friendly, teaching them medicine and giving them presents. If someone derides him, however, he exacts a severe revenge. He sometimes plays the role of a trickster in folk tales.[3]
>The stories originate from pagan times. Rübezahl is the fantastic Lord of Weather of the mountains and is similar to the Wild Hunt. Unexpectedly or playfully, he sends lightning and thunder, fog, rain and snow from the mountain above, even while the sun is shining. He may take the appearance of a monk in a gray frock (like Wotan in his mantel of clouds); he holds a stringed instrument in his hand (the storm harp), and walks so heavily that the earth trembles around him.[citation needed]
There is none, if you're referring to gods.
>tips kosmonaut helmet

Most of the myths were folklore but the most widely accepted is that we were the descendants of a union between a fairy and a sea dragon.
do people still follow pagan traditions over there? any old pagan temples/sites not destroyed?

>The primary figure in most Guaraní creation legends is Tupã, the supreme god of all creation. With the help of the moon goddess Arasy, Tupã descended upon the Earth in a location specified as a hill in the region of Aregua, Paraguay, and from that location created all that is found upon the face of the earth, including the ocean, forests, and the animals. It is also said that the stars were placed in the sky at this point.
>Tupã then created humanity in an elaborate ceremony, forming clay statues of man and woman with a mixture of various elements from nature. After breathing life into the human forms, he left them with the spirits of good and evil and departed.
>The original humans created by Tupã were Rupave and Sypave, whose names mean "Father of the people" and "Mother of the people", respectively. The pair had three sons and a large but unspecified number of daughters.
>The first of their sons was Tumé Arandú, considered to be the wisest of men and the great prophet of the Guaraní people.
>Second of their sons was Marangatú, a benevolent and generous leader of his people, and father of Kerana, the mother of the seven legendary monsters of Guaraní myth.
>Their third son was Japeusá, who was from birth considered a liar, a thief and a trickster, always doing things backwards to confuse people and take advantage of them. He eventually committed suicide, drowning himself in the water, but he was resurrected as a crab, and since then all crabs are cursed to walk backwards much as Japeusá did.
>Among the daughters of the Rupave and Supave was Porâsý, notable for sacrificing her own life in order to rid the world of one of the seven legendary monsters, diminishing their power (and thus the power of evil as a whole).
>Several of the first humans were considered to have ascended upon their deaths and become minor deities.
btw i'm pretty sure Catholic missionaries stick their footnotes on the main text of this. it sounds suspiciously like Genesis
do you wish to know more?
Right. In that case we have a number of stories and creatures. Some are of local origin, others
have influences from Italian, Greek, or Arabic creatures/stories. Then of course we have some
legends of Christian nature. Almost nobody knows about this stuff nowadays, as they're seen
as a childish thing.
are most people in paraguay descendants of spanish inhabitants or natives? or a mix?
Play Witcher, unironically, basic FAQ on Slavic mythology

We have a folklore about a man who named "Cuội".
>One day he went to the forest, he saw some tiger cubs. They're injured (or Cuội made them injured, depend on the version). Then, the Mom Tiger came home, she saw her children, plucked some leaves then feed them with it. The tiger cubs magically awakened. Cuội brought the tree with those magic leaves back home, used the leaves to treat those who are sick and injured.
> Cuội told his wife to always water the tree with clear water (because an old man told him so), but one day, she watered it with dirty liquid. The tree then started to fly to the sky, Cuội went home, saw that and clinged to the flying tree.
>Legend has it that he's in the Moon, still looking at our Earth.
well america has made a bunch of movies mocking it
The biggest myth is that we've had independence since 1922.
ayyy Marvel
There was a virgin woman Iro he gave birth to a three sons (demigods) Joukahainen, Väinämöinen and Ilmarinen. Ilmarinen sets up a smithy, Väinämöinen and Joukahainen decide to ride away together. But at this point the world wasn't created, only sea so they rode on water. After a while they get into a fight and Väinämöinen wins singlehandedly, this makes Joukahainen resent him and makes a bow and shoot Väinämöinens from afar horse and thus he fell to the water. Väinämöinen drifted in the water a long time, then comes the loon which comes and hatches an egg on the knee of the drifting Väinämöinen. The egg fells from his knee and cracks to multiple pieces. One creates the sky, one becomes the land and the yolk creates the sun.
That's the gist of it. There's a rune for everything that's ever been created. Like Beer

It really annoys me. When people hear of Odin and Thor now they think of some mutt in a capeshit movie.
Mythology isn't a fitting term 2bh, because even though some beings were real and and others are merely analogical representations, it is all rooted in an older world of which we do not know. Therefore claiming that events told are myths is a lie.
Also, God of War is, like most games and movies etc, a terrible source for learning or forming opinions.
>do people still follow pagan traditions over there?
To an extent, but adjusted for the times in which we live. I have hosted two rituals and co-lead one of them.
>any old pagan temples/sites not destroyed?
No, the Christians razed everything like that and usually stole the material to build their churches. That's why there are churches and chapels even in the smallest villages in bumfuck nowhere, because they were erected on top of heathen places of importance.
>some beings were real
you're talking about legends aren't you
myth is a serious explanation about a bullshit thing,
while legend is a bullshit retelling of a real event
Doesn't matter as all the legends fall under the umbrella term "mythology".
we have this weird creation myth
and we jerk ourselves off over some slaveowners
bump for more cultures
