I’m not an insider nor a larper but just know that chainLink is one of very few viable projects. It’s not even a matter of when it will moon(by evidence of the GitHub and pivotal tracker we are WAY fucking past the IF it will moon stage) but now it’s the HOW Much will it moon. The vast majority of you are NEETS or work pretty simple jobs and it’s not an insult by any means. Very few people in society overall get to the position I’m in. But if only you anons knew the amount of manual processes we have to go through in order to settle cash. Something like LINK partnered with SWIFT would elimste 50-80% of bank back office and middle office positions. Not only does this save banks money but it also allows us to deploy money quicker which means we make more money.

Our global capital markets have lots of friction and pain points. It’s like America right now; the infrastructure is old and we haven’t invested in it over the years. It’s rotting. Smartcontracts and LINK is imo the least painful method I’ve seen so far across fintech that modernizes the plumbing behind our financial markets. I plan on selling a tiny portion of my stack so I can quit my job but 90% will he staked for the years to come. The impact it will have on finance alone is massive and the effect it will have on society at this point is unimaginable

Ive always thought of this...why wouldn't a corp lets say chase just start a private blockchain where each branch ran a node. Now you have a private "decentralized enough for a bank" blockchain and don't have to pay miners etc. Then add oracles specific for their use cases and just use the same fucking nodes for oracles. Now they have a blockchain for settling lets say bond payments based on external data spit through a smart contract on a blockchain all for just some electricity.

a decentralised network doesnt just offer more security, it also offers the possibility of 100% uptime.

Because that’s just an internal database. Forcing a consensus mechanism on that makes for an extremely slow system.

Because we’re not aiming to settle for T+ seconds right now because we’re not talking about micro transactions. We’re talking about massive loans that have interest and amortization payments, swap agreements, bonds and notes, etc. these things clear in T+ 10 days and over and require a lot of manual inputs. If you can get this down to T+ 1 or 2 days that’s a huge boost to a bank.

On internal oracles: banks typically aren’t the sole owners of bonds. A company chooses a bank to arrange the bond but that bank typically seeks to syndicate the rest of their position out. They want to diversify their risk out by sharing a loan or selling a bond with other banks and investors. This requires us to work with other institutions as in receive/request money and send money as well.

They might but they still need chainlink to have a more robust system that can deal with all sorts of borrowers, outside institutions, data inputs, collateral reports, etc

I don’t have a good answer because I genuinely don’t know. ETH is an obvious choice because the idealist in me would love to see massive contracts operate on a public blockchain where they can be MORE trusted with a true public audit (you’re not trusting people from institutions to perform them but rather literally anyone can)

There are things like gvt polymath and airswap out there than seek to tokenized real world assets but I’m still highly skeptical. Hell im still skeptical of LINK being 100% successful but it’s a bet that I’m willing to go all-in on
