Yeah. Africans speak dozens of dialects of French, then there's Acadian, Maghreb French, Haitian, Lebanon French, Jersey French, Aostan French, and of course Belgian and Swiss French.
Even France has a lot of dialects, like Ch'timi which is famous for sounding ridiculous, or Provençal for sounding crude, manly but also uneducated.

Many African countries speak regional varieties of French. So do many Caribbean ones.

Obviously I'm biased, but I prefer Québec French. Not that Metropolitan French is bad by any means, and certainly I wish we adopted some of their terminology to avoid some of our anglicisms (e.g. using "mec" instead of "dude"), and vice versa (e.g. I wish French people would say "magasiner" instead of "faire du shopping"), but in general I just prefer some of the weirdness and peculiarness of our dialect.

I am a cajun from Louisiana, I speak French as my mother language since I was a baby. First, we can understand French people very well, their accent is very "clean", but we have more words in common with the Quebec people, but we have a hard time with their accent, it's too thick and they speak too quickly.

For French people, we understand you perfectly well, but sometimes you use words we don't understand, but for Quebec people, you speak very quickly and have a weird accent, but when you speak slowly, we understand you better than French people because you never use words that we don't know.

I really feel bad about how previous French regimes easily gave up on ethnically French territories like Louisiana and the rest of New France during the Seven Years' War. Louis XV basically gave up on thousands of settlers for some sugar fields, and Napoleon did the same thing for a few bucks. It lead to French people like you being stigmatized and assimilated by outside dominant cultures.
I'm usually very prompt to make fun of Americans for claiming to be part of a European nationality or ethnicity, but that's mainly because they don't keep in touch with the corresponding culture or language. I'm not the Cajun guy, but my ancestors came from Normandy and I've been trying to learn French because I feel like garbage for having a French surname and not being able to teach it.

Someday I'd like to become fluent and be able to raise my children bilingually with French and English.

I don't wanna seem like a >muh heritage faggot, but I'm really enjoying learning French. I'm having a lot more fun with it than I did with Spanish in school, and I feel like I'm making faster progress with this than Spanish, but it may be because I'm more interested in it (and maybe the surplus of French vocabulary in English helps, too).
