why you not escape ?
canada is pathetic frozen land tbqh

the tentacles of Ottawa and provincial politics are far reaching

BC is the only thing keeping you alive user. If you separate, the big one will occur and you won't have the government funds to pay for the disaster. You will be closer to the epicentre after all.

>BC
>keeping me alive
hmmmm where do you think I live exactly?

I assumed you were on Vancouver Island since there is a separatist movement there

complete opposite side of the country

So which Island are we talking about? Newfoundland? PEI?

Close

mate, it's obviously Cape Breton

Huh, I did not know about this movement. In BC we only hear about Vancouver Island wanting to leave

to be honest I did't know about it either, I just recognised the Canso Causeway

Not really a movement per say. It definitely used to exist, but this is just renewed sentiments from a population watching the world change and home not changing, but getting worse.

Cape Breton is dying, about 25,000 to 30,000 in population lost since 1996.

oh yeah, I'm definitely aware of the issues in Cape Breton. That doesn't mean I have any idea how to fix them though

Oh let me say I have no idea how Cape Breton would be fixed either, and I've lived here most of my life. I don't even think exasperating from Nova Scotia would be particularly good for us economically either, but I like the idea of giving Halifax the finger. Fuck Halifax.

*separating

I mean, it would actually force the government in Sydney to actually fucking do something themselves rather than wait for Halifax do to it, but Cape Breton doesn't really have enough dependable sources of income to stand on its own

Really Cape Breton should focus on keeping tax revenue on the island and not being funneled into Halifax or other places on the mainland, and equalization payments given to Nova Scotia should be paid out to the island with fair representation.

From Toronto, only barely think about the west coast and other Windsor Quebec corridor cities sometimes

Redpill me on Atlantic Canada politics

>Redpill me on Atlantic Canada politics
desperation and poverty, and the ever so classic rural vs urban divide. a dying region with no hope in sight.

Vancouver Island here. I see a lot of "Slow down, this isn't the Mainland" bumper stickers.

are you sure it doesn't say "woh srow down, vrancouva irand not mainrand"

For sure mate. I don't know enough about Nova Scotia's equalisation payment distribution to comment on it, but Cape Breton really needs to start taking the political initiative more in regards to itself. Still love it though

Where you from exactly?
