Actually, Alien, UFO and conspiracy documentaries on History Channel were the best stuff they broadcasted from 2006 to 2011.

I like ancient history, especially roman history. Recommended podcast: History of Rome thehistoryofrome.typepad.com/

the ones they broadcast today are pure and utter bullshit
>WOW look at this pile of rocks!
>They're dated 1000.000.000.000 years old, amazing!
>WHY WOULD THE ALIUMZ DO DAT?

I haven't watched History Channel since 2011.

America hands down

CAVEBEASTS N SHEIT!!!!

>after months of contacting several 'experts' and doing google maps research, they finally go to the site
>turns out it's just some farmer who cleared his fields of rocks

also, if you're looking for documentaries, some of the good ones I recently (re)watched include:
>Russia, Land of the Tsars
>The Civil War by Ken Burns
>BBC's The Death of Yugoslavia
>A History of Britain by Simon Schama

I've seen two of those which were good, so I'll watch the others too. Thanks user

>watching TV unironically

Native history. Be it America, Africa, Asia, or Australia.

BUMP

Sweden, Korea, New Zealand

Not really a country, but the history of Mesoamerica pre-Spanish fuckary is pretty fun and interesting to read about.

Afrika, especially how the proud melanoids built the most advanced civilization to ever grace this planet until the traitor Yakub made the wh*toid menace who proceeded to destroy everything and rewrote history

I saw an excellent documentary on the Italian Renaissance and how the Pope and city-states would act as patrons of the arts, I wish I could remember the name of it.

try very hard pls it sounds nice ;_;

Roman republic->empire is absolute god tier
tons of sources to give colour and characters and you get to see the entire political, economic and social systems buckle and crack under the pressure of empire and a new slave economy. You've got to start at the second punic war or Gracchi at least though
also WW1
late roman empire evolving into feudalism
bronze age civilisations
