What's the holiest place in your city?

Pic related, Atsuta shrine. It houses the ancient sword that is one of the three sacred treasures of Japan

In my city or country do you mean Shinzo Abe?
Because my city is new there is nothing holy there.

(I'm not the OP poster)
There is the Ame-no-Murakumo-no-Tsurugi(Kusanagi-no-Tsurugi) which was used by Yamato Takeru in Atsuta shrine.

The only holy place is the temple in Jerusalem right?

The Cathedral Church and Minor Basilica of the Immaculate Mother of God, Help of Christians

Isn't your holy sword actually lost in the sea?

Define holiest
I have Russian Orthodox, Catholic, Jewish, Armenian Orthodox, Muslim churches here. Also some pagans lurking nearby

good 60-70's vibes

I though all three sacred treasures were at Ise shrine

There are some other minor holy places but you are generally right.

Im pretty sure nothing is sacred here

probably St. Stephen's Basilica
it's named after our first Christian king, whose mummified right hand, the Holy Dexter can be viewed on display inside the basilica

You are from Philly?

I went past there on bus to New York. I thought it was New York haha. Nice city

Been there, typical Aichi shithole.

St. Paul's Cathedral probably

Governor Hunt's Tomb. the first governor of phoenix thought it would be cool to have a tomb when he died so he did. Whenever you ride the tram at the phoenix zoo they briefly point it out. The US isn't even 250 years old. It takes at least 500 years before something is holy.

Ise shrine enshrines the Mirror of Yata; and OP's shrine does the Sword of Kusanagi.

Anyway, the sword's preservation is controversial. It was once stolen by a Korean in the 7th century (he was captured before he returned to Korea and apparently the sword was taken back), and then it sank in the sea with defeated Taira clan in the naval battle of Dannoura, even though some scholars say that it was a replica for ceremony and that the real one is intact.

The rest, the Gem of Yasakani, is housed in the imperial palace.

The Tokyo imperial palace or the old Kyoto palace?

Tokyo

Very interesting, thank you.

Is there a hierarchy of importance for the treasures? I'd guess the Gem is the most important since it's with the emperor.

Hey fuck off. Komaki and Mikawa regions are pretty shitty but Nagoya is best. Although there are too many shitty ugly Showa era buildings

I don't know about the hierarchy, but traditionally the gem and sword (the set was called Kenji) usually traveled everywhere with the emperor (even on a short trip) while the mirror was rarely moved. But then again the mirror is the embodiment of Amaterasu the sun goddess (the supreme deity in Shinto), so I don't think they thought the less of it.

lol

The local pub.

There's a cathedral here

How do you think about Mikawa?

same little church

The mirror is supposed to be the one used to trick Amaterasu to come out of the cave, right?

Yes.
Also, those mirrors were used in ancient rituals. When properly placed, the reflection of sunlight looked like an emergence of the sun on earth to ancient people. The queen Himiko of Yamatai kingdom is known to have conducted mystical rituals and might be a model figure for Amaterasu.

Worcester Cathedral. It holds the tombs of King John and Arthur, Prince of Wales, who was the older brother of King Henry VIII.
