That's not really an up to date view on the matter.
Finns have fairly broad genetic origins but we are fractionised into regions and subregions and so we end up at a situation where people in various parts of Finland aren't genetically close to anyone but their immediate neighbours.
Finnish language originates in Estonia as does Finnish DNA so we may assume whatever bottleneck relevant to Finns to broadly occurred when Estonians colonized Finland in the 1st millenium and mixed with the Saami speaking inhabitants, whom Tacitus referred to as the Fenni.

You're confused. It is known that Saami were in Finland before Finns(Leväluhta genomes) and Finnish language originates in Estonia.
When you put one and one together you end up with the idea that Finns are a mixture of Baltic Finns and Saami.
