Welcome to /flag/, a general thread to talk about things like: Flags//Vexillology//Autism//Flag design//Symbolism//History//General comfy//:^)//, as well as flag collections and autism. Come for the flags, Stay for the autism.
Previous thread: >What are extra flags? Extra Flags is an open-source and non-malicious plugin that adds regional flags, like states and provinces, to the already existing national flags on Jow Forums, Jow Forums and /sp/, by storing users' post number along with the selected regional flags, and retrieving it from a database when a thread is loaded. You can add your region's flag by requesting it on the GitHub page.

>nah, but slavs sure have a lot of problems with a lot of things *cough cough* alcohol c*cough cough* heroin So what? Doesn't mean all of them are degenerates. I could just as well say people from your country have problems with food and so on, but what purpose would that serve?

How does this plugin work? Where is the extra information about your location stored?
David Ortiz
Basically, when you have the extension installed and make a post it sends your post number to the extension home, and it attaches the flags to your post number so that when you or anyone who has the extension loads a thread it will check each post number for numbers matching those by users with the extension and update their flags to match
Jacob Johnson
Oh so it's dependent on an external server? Kinda boring

What did you expect

the backend stores the regional selected, along with a post number. It is scrubbed when the thread is 404'd. No ip addresses are stored, and no logs are utilized. There are over 40000 flags in the database currently being used by anons.
