In Azores, maybe. The military used to help a lot the people there. In the continent we don't really think about it. People go to the military because it's a steady job and after the first hard years you don't really have to do much more than the average worker and still get a lot of benefits from the state. I personally wouldn't go to the military with the state of the world because I don't want to fight in a stupid war

That's because we openly talk about our problems and when a vet is not treated fairly, it is always big news. In most other countries nobody gives a shit so everything is fine there. Same with every single problem people are memeing about here. Police brutality, health care etc etc. Not everything is perfect but we want to get better so we talk about our problems even if exaggerating a bit to draw attention to the problem. That's what makes us so great.

Everybody served in military here so it's nothing uncommon. However, if you're about people who work in army, well...it's very complicated. Altogether we respect them a lot but they don't get any serious social support.
