Lada was bought by Renault–Nissan–Mitsubishi Alliance.

Breaking down on the side of the road became a dwindling passtime in the ever increasing demand for shit that works.

Ladas, UAZ and GAZ were easy to fix but not particularly reliable.
Being easy and cheap to fix contributed to their longevity.

Same shit as every automobile industry in the former eastern bloc. Bought of by wealthy western corporations who later either killed the brands and replaced with their own or just did some badge manufacturing on already existing platforms to build budget versions (skoda, dacia, lada)

slav = slave

How cheap was to fix them?

>the best car ever produced in the Soviet Union is a fucked-up Fiat 124
really makes me think

parts were x3 cheaper but x6 shittier than on western cars

wrong

Attached: lada-niva-visureigis-1990.jpg (1920x1080, 613K)

And you could buy a brand new Lada with $1000 in the late 80s which was practically free

Mocквич was better but its a copy of Simca

Wrong.

>Ladas

I just did a search on ebay, in very nice condition they go from $8,000 to $26,000

How much does an old Lada (1980's) in 7/10 condition sell for?

lada niva is by far the best one they've come up with. Unlike many commie-era cars you can still see them on the streets. They look cute and are pretty capable offroaders.

Hell you can still purchase one knew although for the price you can get a much better used vehicle.

$100

Best jeep ever.

Attached: new.lada.niva.jpg (1600x900, 183K)

Their latest model is actually decent for its money, at least in Russia. Not sure if they sell it abroad

domestically they're still popular cause of cheap ruble
nivas and UAZ are the only barely passable offroads (way) under a million rubles, and these are all over the place too. they're alright for cheap sedans, actually

>You hardly ever see any Ladas these days

You seem them in poor post-Soviet shitholes. I was in Georgia last year and they were everywhere, and they used them to drive on country and forest roads and everything.

are the 4wd?

Nice, you should see the ebay ones, it's crazy high

Yes.

Since they weren't exported in the US. Ladas were among the most popular perhaps THE most popular brand back then since their price was the fraction of western cars

are the 4wd?
yeah, full time four wheel drive. If you close your eyes it's like driving a wheelbarrow full of gravels but with four wheels.

2k euros

Search YouTube for Nova, dude.
It's 4wd, and it's *light*. You never find best offroad thing.

>They were reliable, cheap and easy to fix
No, they were just cheap and easy to fix.

You can buy it in few European countries
lada.ru/en/country/

They ddin't require any preheating in winter like most cars. That's what I mostly meant by that

Fuck I'm jealous, I would love to buy one and run in it in the sand dunes with big tires

To think that all it's counterparts from when the west made actual off road stuff have become "SUV"

But veery cheap and veeeery easy to fix.

>with big tires
And all power was lost!

What's that old video of ukrainian bydlos rolling over on a country road in an old red zhiguli? Can't find it anymore

>it in the sand dunes with big tires
it has a 4 cyl 1.7 NA engine doing like 70 horsepower. It would choke if you put bubble tyres on it unless you're planning to run low range gears all day long.

Big jeep - well, you need a tractor. Light jeep - you need some other guy and you two just move it by hands off shit.

It seems there's still some "newer" brands around

this is from ebay
Can you turbo them?

Attached: lada1.jpg (640x427, 194K)

>tfw no ladas or russian cars at all near me
I'm going to buy a jeep cherokee anyway but those vehicles would be perfect

You can offroad them like a normal person instead of turning them into a clownish fatburger shitbarge.

Attached: lifted truck thread.webm (640x480, 702K)

But Cherokee is shit anyway. Get old hilux, give her some love.

Fucking love the Volga, it's one of the fewest Russian cars it never came here.

Attached: file.png (800x533, 703K)

i want a small suv not a pickup truck

>You can offroad them like a normal person
Nah, that's no fun.
If I could buy those for around $1000, I'd buy 4 and be doing all kinds of crazy shit with them

What about a modern spinoff coupe

Attached: f1e936133d1246e6c7f84b2798747a5d.jpg (1600x900, 242K)

>Can you turbo them?
So your idea of good fun is spending 3 times the cost of a car for custom exhaust manifold to turbo a shitty fiat engine.

70 bhp is enough for it. It's a small and very light car. A glorified two seater because sitting 4 is a pretty dumb idea.

Americans haven't gotten the Hilux since 1976.

spook mobile
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Black_Volga

It's not authentic, so YMMV - I don't like it, its pretty much BMW, so what the point.

And their price would skyrocket because every blubbering idiot with more money than brains would have exactly the same idea. Good job.

Tons of hilux on Craigslist.

ladas are SHIT

dune riding involves higher speeds because sand is usually smooth you dumb shite.
Besides, how the fuck are you going to arrive at said dunes?

>BlackVolga

The exact version i'd like. KGB ones had V8's.

My bad, 1995.

they're pretty rare still. only a couple for sale in my whole state

Now I'm importing 8
These are the dune tires

We have 5291 kilometers of shoreline in my state, a little is for this
