I have met a group of about 30 young mormons from Salt Lake City in Croatia. One of them played sick guitar. We sang a lot together and had fun. Well, they did not drink and were a bit weird, but seemed pretty happy.
What is the matter with them really?

It stopped now, but we used to get a lot of American mormons going from door to door here in my neighborhood like 15 years ago. My mom would occasionally let them in. Before they went back to America, they baked my mom an apple pie. Pretty nice people.

yes, pic related is a mormon church just a few hundred meters from my flat. the road is full of people walking back and forth trying to recruit (including some qts). they have what I think is american accents.

because those movements can be traced back to north european evangelism in the 19th century. since they were persecuted in their homelands, many of them moved to america. since america had full religious freedom, these people were free to bring their religious extremism with them.

We have reformed Christian villages and cities, who literally want to ban women from politics and voting, so that only the male head of the family can vote. Turn our democracy into a theocracy (aka a country ruled by the bible). Teach Christianity in schools. Reintroduce the death penalty. And all that jazz. But just like mormons they are pretty friendly and polite people.
