How do you feel when a foreigner tries to learn your native language?
How do you feel when a foreigner tries to learn your native language?
disgusted
Assuming we're talking about someone not living here: I think it's cool, but fully expect them to stop learning it pretty quickly.
This. Besides, talking like natives do is so full of weird nuances, especially in the north, that you would sound off anyway.
It usually just means they need it for work/travel or they're interested in American media. Nobody gives a shit about Britain
They're always learning some Latin American variant and they do it because dude the language of the future. Nobody gives a shit about Spain.
I do
Feels good being the only relevant country in the world that speaks Portuguese
Not in Europe man. The textbooks were half Spanish language, half Spain and its culture.
Same with the English textbooks and England.
Nothing disgusts me more than foreigners who think that they can learn Russian. Especially when you shits try to speak it, pure ear rape. Leave my language alone, you will never learn it to any meaningful degree and always be a laughing stock to native speakers.
confused
How about if I'm actually Russian but my parents never taught me
I like this because its not so many foreigners who try.
Not Jew?
That's normal, everyone should learn my language
Nope
awful, they butcher it
i'd rather talk to them in english
But how that may even happen? They talk with each other at home in English?
This
I'm happy somebody finds it interesting, but I know most people give up pretty soon.
Depends on the person. When qts learn japanese i wanna support them.
