Thing is there is several stores here in Sweden with similar, if not cheaper prices than Lidl. People choose Lidl because it is good shops here.
Sure some are located in pretty shit areas but visit one in the normal part of town and it's not bad at all.
Quality wise it's far from the worst available.

Usually cheap as dirt and reasonably high in standard thanks to regulations.

I'm not an avid user of them but I have on occasion wandered in and got the basic groceries when lazy.

The Lidl I visited made it physically impossible to directly touch the bread, you had to pushed them sideways through a one way flap to pick it up. I felt autistic and awkward doing that and will never shop there again.
