yes, we usually understand them if they don´t speak to fast or almost screaming like some spanish bros do... i think for them it's more difficult to understand portuguese spoken with our accent, but reading it 95% understandable.

No, we don´t have any of that since the first republic 1910-1926 and we had some of that in 1974-75 when Salazar (para-fascist)regime felt.

The admiral of Portugal. He was in charge of the ship Sagres which we docked next too. It escorted us out of the harbour when we left. Lisbon is one of the nicest cities in Europe in my opinion.
