But by like the late 2100s Mars will probably actually be Africa tier, but Africa will be on par with modern Eastern Europe (not Ukraine) in all likelihood.
We're literally spending billions and billions of dollars to make something that is, in all reality, going to just be a giant money pit.
I guess we at least get experience with colonizing planets.

doubt it. In the 1950s Kenya was richer than South Korea. Look at South Korea now, look at Kenya now. Demography is destiny.

Communism is one hell of an opiate. I guarantee you that if North Korea were to suddenly switch to free market capitalism, it would catch up to their southern neighbors in a handful of decades. Much like how South Korea rose up from the ashes of Japanese oppression.
