BRENDANNNNNNNNNNNNNNN

Why doesn't Jow Forums care about Brave/BAT? Too ambitious of a project?

Taking on Google and Facebook who spends thousands of dollars each year lobbying to US Congress to keep their ad-revenue flowing. If this was a feasible project for mainstream adoption, those two would've acquired the company already.

My god these buys

biz as a whole has the mentality of an autistic child, clutching two diseased rats in each fist. Continuously bashing said rats against the ground, and growing angrier and angrier as they dirty themselves with rat blood.

See: "My Stinky Linkies"

anti-trust laws yo

>Taking on Google and Facebook who spends thousands of dollars each year lobbying to US Congress to keep their ad-revenue flowing
Serious question, don't they spend millions? Or are they trying not to be too blatant about it?

HOLY SHIT WENT ALL IN AT 4600 ALREADY MADE 10% WHEN DO I SELL AAAAA

Never. You wanna be that guy that sold BTC at $4?

1 dollar is probably the main goal for most long-ish term buyers.

now

Wow it actually reached 5000 sats for a moment

Attached: 1522257324360.png (561x561, 328K)

They announced they had a partnership with a top 3 NYC media company months ago. Pay attention. (Pun intended)

1 dollar defeats the purpose of BAT

Really makes me want to buy more. This is nuts.

I'm almost at my average buy-in price ($.49) and I didn't expect this until mid summer. Going to hurt to see the post-pump dip but hopefully by then I'll have my tax return and can buy back in on the low.

kek

see you at 10 user

Yes but they never revealed more about the partnership as far as I know, just teased us with that little bit of info

You think Brave and BAT becoming the dominant (heh) web-ad platform isn't antitrust?

I'm not bashing the browser, the company, or the project. But as long as there is an alternative to paying for content, most people will take the "free" option. It's not my opinion, it's proven by Google and Facebook's success.

I know Brave browser has a great team and a compelling proposition of a lightweight, privacy-focused browser, but the fact that Facebook and Google earning billions in profits each year shows most people don't care.

>- Offers fast, power-efficient, privacy-focused mobile and pc web browser
>- Most people are content with current offerings

Attached: anonkun.jpg (1080x1069, 313K)

Did you read what I was replying to?
I said Alphabet buying Brave would be an open and closed anti-trust suit.

No comment on your post.

someone respond to this pls. I want to buy in but my one doubt is adoption, it's hard to envision

>I want to buy in
long term holder here. Just sold and wont buy back for a while

BAT wont be tied to Brave in the future. The long term goal is for BAT to be used/earned on several non-browser based platforms as well as non-brave browsers.

>But as long as there is an alternative to paying for content, most people will take the "free" option

Wait, what are you talking about? Do you understand how Brave works?

Also there is a growing discontent with Facebook and Google. Look at the Zuckerberg hearings in front of the senate, lol. People don't realize Google is even worse than Facebook in terms of selling our information. People are starting to wake up, slowly. Brave has the privacy angle, but also the crypto-infused browser angle, catering to content producers. It's win/win.

No it's not. Google, Apple, Facebook, Amazon, Microsoft, and Netflix always buys off their potential competitors.

Snapchat refused Facebook's acquisition offer, Facebook retools Instagram to mimic basically every feature Snapchat has to offer and Snapchat is basically a zombie firm. theguardian.com/technology/2018/feb/23/snapchat-redesign-scandal-kylie-jenner-what-went-wrong

Big tech companies either buy out serious competition or kill them off. Do you honestly think Google, Apple, and Facebook will just sit around and watch Brave take valuable viewers' eyeballs away from them?

What's stopping Google from making a ChromeCoin cryptocurrency that provides the same value proposition of BAT & Brave Browser plus being used as a currency in any Google-owned business like YouTube and the Chrome Web Store?

What's stopping Apple from producing a SafariCoin that does the same thing as Brave/BAT on their Safari web broswer, and you can buy Apple products, pay for Apple subscriptions, and buy music on iTunes with it?

BAT has good trading opportunities from this recent news. That's it. Make some money off of it but don't delude yourself everyone else will watch them take their ad-revenue.

thanks just bought 100k

Okay fuck face when to sell

Attached: IMG-20180418-WA0010.jpg (1200x1600, 146K)

You are like little child. I bet you read Hacker News, too.

Youre clearly new.
It was the shill of the season coin already. It dumped hard and People jumped over to link. Whats next before link goes nowhere? I thnk icx.

The privacy concerns are overblown and legislators are all in Google and Facebook's payroll, see $FB price history.

theguardian.com/technology/2017/sep/03/silicon-valley-politics-lobbying-washington

This is what BAT's website has to say about how Brave and BAT works.

> Brave currently runs an experimental automated and anonymous micro-donation system for publishers called Brave Payments. The BAT platform will absorb the Brave Payments ledger, which will migrate from Bitcoin micropayments to BAT microdonations in the near future. The platform will further extend this work into advertising. Users have the choice of whether or not to opt-in to see ads, which use a separate open source component. When users opt-in to receive ads in the platform, ads will be privately matched to their interests and anonymously confirmed. Publishers are rewarded accordingly with tokens. The user remains anonymous to all parties. Users who opt-in will also get a share of BATs and can use them on premium products, donate them back to publishers, etc.

That is not free. The masses will stick to Chrome / Safari with some adblocks sprinkled in. Move on, don't get emotionally attached to this project.

There is money making opportunity from trading this token but that's it.

I'm not here to deter traders, there's clear trading opportunities with this token. That's it.

Current way ads work:
>you get free fast browser with fuck ton of ads and companies scraping your data to sell it

New way ads work:
>you get free fast browser with no ads period or companies scraping and selling your data or you opt-in to be paid for viewing ads

I wonder which people will choose

Avoided the coin because of how weak it pumped before, fuck I missed a easy 2x. Oh well

Keep ignoring the fact that absolutely nothing is stopping Google, Apple, Microsoft, and Mozilla from mimicking Brave/BAT's ad-revenue model.

I just gave you an example of how Facebook killed off Snapchat with Instagram.

Also keep ignoring the fact that Google, Apple, Facebook, and Microsoft have US legislators in their pockets.

It's funny because you don't get it. Let me lay it out for you:

Alphabet has contracts with advertisers and third-party data miners that make it billions of dollars a year. Its business model relies on these contracts and clients. If Google Chrome adopts Brave's business model, it needs to cancel these contracts in order to do so, because Brave's business model is based around blocking ads. If Chrome adopts an anti-advertising platform, it is against the interest of its clients, these major advertising corporations and third party data miners. It literally is stuck in its current advertising platform because that is how it makes billions of dollars. Until Brave came along, there was no other online-advertising model. Brave is literally a game-changer, the game being online advertising.

Alphabet buying Brave would violate anti-trust laws because the ONLY way Google could incorporate Brave would be to literally shut it down, or completely gut the company so it no longer does what it purposely set out to do. That is not only anti-competitive, it's completely fucking illegal. Google can't incorporate Brave's business model because that would be against the interest of its clients and its business, basically it would lose a ton of money. Google is STUCK with its advertising model, it's like a dinosaur. Brave is the comet.

It's funny because your scenario will never happen. Keep this comment as a memento.

Fuck, sold 1/3rd my stack last night at 3500 because I thought this bitch was gonna dump.

>your scenario will never happen

What scenario are you talking about? Alphabet will never buy Brave?

Yeah, that was the point of my post lol. Brave is already growing in users every month. Why are you so offended by a company competing with Google? Really bizarre to take things this personally. I just shut you down and all you can manage is "that will never happen," which literally applies to nothing I wrote.

>decide to FOMO in at 0.35
>my order is executed at 0.4 and it instantly dumps to 0.37
fuck just lost 10% on a single move

Russian?

>Google, Facebook, Microsoft, Apple and Amazon spent $49m on Washington lobbying last year (2016), and there is a well-oiled revolving door of Silicon Valley executives to and from senior government positions.
I think I know which side the regulators will choose to side with :)

So your logic is that change can never occur because the big boys have too much money and can always block the little guys, no matter what.

You do realize we're arguing about ANTI-TRUST laws, right? You do realize what ANTI-TRUST laws are designed to do, right?

Attached: brainlet.png (403x448, 53K)

You didn't shut me down at all.

All google has to do is honor whatever outstanding ad contracts it has and phase in the new ad-revenue model to the retooled Chrome.

Google became what it is because they were never "stuck" with anything. Tell that to Lycos and AskJeeves.

reddit.com/r/ethtrader/comments/7h6gi4/pewdiepie_youtuber_with_58_million_subscribers/dqq8z4r/

From BBB to your pajeet eyes.

But it's always just a pump and dump, the only coin that matters is bitcoin

Attached: IMG-20180418-WA0008.jpg (1200x1600, 147K)

You realize google isn't in danger of getting into antitrust legislation (42.2% of US digital ad revenue)? This isn't Microsoft Windows level dominance.

FYI FB has around 20% of US digital ad revenue.

emarketer.com/Article/Google-Facebook-Tighten-Grip-on-US-Digital-Ad-Market/1016494

You know what? Ya, kinda. The end goal of all this is for me is obtaining more BTC.

I swear i've seen another person that writes/speaks just like you make these exact points in the last "BAT mooning" thread a couple months back.

I swear I think your main purpose in life is to pajeet FUD this project.

Yeah I see you've dropped your original argument, which was that Alphabet could buy Brave and shut it down. I'm glad you're conceding that point. Good luck in your future, There's a coin called "Tron (TRX)" you might be interested in.

And I see irrational bag holders like you raging in each and every token thread.

I'm saying this time and time again, there's trading opportunities with BAT. At the end of the day that's all that matters to you degens.

ETH is good for all the shit ICO too, I make all my female friends buy ETH for the lolz

Of course they can buy Brave and shut it down. That's not even a point worth discussing because Brave is worthless in their eyes.

What's wrong with Hacker News?

Attached: 1443271045094.png (187x174, 63K)

Bag holders don't realize when they bet on Brave/BAT, they're betting against Google, Facebook, Amazon, Microsoft, and Apple. Look at their stock price histories to see what you're betting against.

VCs and angel investors invest in firms/techs that could potentially be acquired by those giants. They ask two basic questions; "can Amazon, Google, Facebook, Apple make this? If not, will they buy this?"

Do you guys really think those giants can't mimic this?

FOR THE GLORY OF THE FOURTH EICH

it's fucking retarded and has been unreadable for years

>Interesting topics
>Intelligent and calm discussions
>Simple layout
What's the problem?

FYI, this Brave browser is based on Google's Chromium web browser and Blink engine. Google definitely can't compete with something based on their own creations.

private user tabs with tor integration inc, beat dat google cuck

Brave is a free and open-source web browser. People can do wtvr they want with it, including copying what's in it.
>anyone is freely licensed to use, copy, study, and change the software in any way, and the source code is openly shared so that people are encouraged to voluntarily improve the design of the software.

Attached: 1524060187354.jpg (250x250, 6K)

The point is the BAT system embedded within the browser, might as well be an Opera clone for that matter. Actually, Google buying BAT and pushing it as thier new model is best case scenario. Since BAT is destined to blow up, why don't let it happen under the Alphabet umbrella?

>google buys brave
>bat rebrands to soytoken
>5000$ eoy
>i dump my bags and make it

a man can dream

Why would they buy rights to an ERC-20 token when they can make their own digital currency? They're not going to hold your bags, it's the other way around. That's how they got so big. Be realistic.

Brave & BAT are going to live in Google's house as they eat Google's Lunch and fuck Google's wife. This is the Chad project of crypto.

They're already researching their own blockchain solution for cloud computing. They'll never hold your bags.

bloomberg.com/news/articles/2018-03-21/google-is-said-to-work-on-its-own-blockchain-related-technology

I'm not anti-BAT or anti-cryptocurrency, just trying to offer reasoned arguments against shills that want your fiat.

You should start an ICO to monetize your shitposts. At least get paid doing it.

ERC20 is merely a jump off platform. Also, BAT could always transition to a new platform

1/ “Man will never fly.” "Ford is the only car company." “iE owns the browser market forever.” Etc.

2/ Blocking ads and trackers speeds up Brave 3-7x vs Chrome on Android, more on iOS; ~2x on laptop. We use chromium open source so our baseline perf with shields down is same as Chrome. Shields up = much faster because of massive overuse of ad calls on many sites. These calls are required by Google’s core business.

3/ Chrome cannot block 3rd party trackers & ads as Brave does. They’d tank their stock and be sued for that materially adverse self inflicted damage. They are doing a cosmetic ad filter, just to ban hated interstitial ad formats. Not much perf gain from that.

If Google were to block trackers and ads while at the same time offering a BAT-like private/anonymous system that kept their customers (advertisers, publishers) whole, they would be in antiitrust trouble. But they can’t reset the system to a private state quickly.

Better if we at Brave bring up the new system and standardize as we go. While we are small we don't rock too many boats. Our users would get uBO on Chrome if they didn’t use Brave.

As we get bigger and 3rd party adtech collapses due to its own middleman problems and negative externalities, we will bring BAT to other apps, not just browsers, and standardize.

Your view of browser history is shallow. I’m a founder of Mozilla and Firefox. I worked on Netscape. We do not have the same four browsers now that we had 20 or even 15 or 10 years ago (Chrome is 9 years old). Read the browser wars Wikipedia pages.

Incumbent products in mature markets can and do fall, especially when their business interests conflict with users’ interests.

- Brendan Eich

>Normies waking up to data peddling in silicon valley
>Normies increasingly wary of shameless advertisement practices
>BAT partnership with Dow Jones
>Brave browser increasingly useable
Things are looking up boys.

Fucking idiot burger isn’t aware of 25th May

What's stopping Google and Apple from doing this? It's not worth their time/money. If this ever becomes a threat to their business, they have all the resources to make the transition.

The biggest resource being their users/consumers. Advertisers will move where their audiences are.

I don't even own any BAT and the moment and I 100% want this project to succeed, jewgle and kikebook are in for a rough road

Fucking Eurofag isn't aware the law will apply to everyone, including Brave.

I started using BAT it's so good plus add block

>what's stopping them
Significantly reducing their revenue, they'll fight this until the better system wins without tricks and deceit and begrudgingly adopt the system, but by then who knows how much marketshare they could lose. Large companies fail too

This. It'll be added to Coinbase soon.

Hurr durr Murica is only jurisdiction with active legislators

They have a ton of users already. Do your own research. Do you think Dow Jones would make their entry into crypto with some vaporware scrubs?

Brave is a 'Murican browser btw. Burgers win either way.

Attached: 341245423245.jpg (710x664, 95K)

Google and Apple are behemoths that move at a glacial speed and are increasingly incompetent at even maintaining their current features, let alone implementing new ones.

Yes it does, but you’re still too fucking stupid to realise I’m not talking about US law. Idiot burger tech firms are going to get fucked

I’ll be making money on the back of tech burgers getting fucked. Lovely

Crypto is. There’s nothing official about how it affects financial reports and they can’t touch crypto right now. Pension funds would run a mile

Ever heard of google X? One of their project produced enough value for Google/Alphabet to more than cover the total costs of that whole division. One project.

Google's also developing a blockchain-based cloud-computing solution inhouse. bloomberg.com/news/articles/2018-03-21/google-is-said-to-work-on-its-own-blockchain-related-technology

I'm not hating on BAT/Brave or cryptocurrencies, but don't expect these big boys to hold your token bags because that's how you lose money in this game.

This shitcoin is finally pumping? Nice, time to sell my bags

You must be holding some heavy bags. Raging in Jow Forums won't make them any lighter.
