Firstly, I should have been more specific. What I'm critical of is the realization of freedom of speech. Instead of it being an inalienable right, it is a Swiss cheese of legislative exceptions. Allowing countries to cite any number of reasons to implement restrictions on freedom of speech. The UK is a clear example of how quickly that can happen when such rights are thoroughly hollowed out.

Secondly, the reason why the majority of those countries rank higher, has nothing to do with the EU at all. They were free long before the EU had a chance to have any real impact. That being said, I do see your point.

There is virtually nothing short of a full mobilization that would stop Russia from capturing Estonia if they wanted to. Friendly and mutually beneficial relationships with Russia is the best defense against that ever happening (again). Not provoking Russia by putting token forces at the border.

As for the nukes, we're all equally fucked if they were ever to be used.
