Have you ever wondered about Alabama?
I’m from Birmingham, ask me anything.
Btw our nicest restaurant just won Best Restaurant in the Country so we’re stoked about that.
Have you ever wondered about Alabama?
How many niggers have you hanged, partner?
yeehaw pew pew pew
we dont take kindly to you folk round here boy
Come on man
No one cares about your inbred shithole, Cletus.
We are not cowboys. Cowboys are out west.
We are hillybillies, hicks and rednecks though. Also trailer trash!
Just kidding
All we euros know about Alabama is black people hangings, KKK and wife beating
Do you like the Crimson Tide?
Are you more based than my CAJUN brothers from Louisiana?
1. What sort of industries are there in Birmingham?
2. What do people there think of Mississippi, is it seen as sort of a twin state?
3. Is Mobile a nice city?
Well since you’re French aim gonna tell you about our restaurant. The chef was a rich kid who moved to southern France to learn cooking then came back here and worked for some fancy French restaurants in the 70s (these restaurants were kind of what started real American food culture) then he came back and started Highlands. He also has Chez Fonfon and Bottega which are less formal. They all mix southern French with southern American cuisine, to some extent.
He gets nominated for Most Outstanding Restaurant every year the last 10 years, but because it’s in alabama the judges never come to rate it. This year he finally won.
Handegg rivalry in Alabama is indescribably intense, and I went to the Crimson Tide’s rival school. Tbh I don’t like either of them but I like Crimson Tide’s campus better. Nice Old South feel.
Honestly there’s nothing, anywhere more based than Cajuns. I can’t describe to you how good their food is.
You forgot about
>obesity
>illiteracy
>consanguineous marriage
>diabetes
>bible thumping
Truly a cultural gem.
Very interesting, I'll look into it
why are you so upset?
Forgot le pic
Bham has a big medical industry. Our only Fortune 500 company is a bank (regions) and because banking and medicine are the major players here we also have a lot of insurance companies.
No, honestly nobody thinks about Mississippi. Georgia is probably most similar but we also love Tennessee.
Our other major industry is food/hospitality. This is predominantly a working class town so i guess they just picked one working class industry and decided to be the best at it.
I’ve actually never been to Mobile. I’ve been to the coast a lot but not that part. I hear that it’s improving its downtown.
all I know about Alabama is Sweet Home Alabama
tell me something else I should know
We have a lot of car factories. Mercedes, Hyundai, Honda, and now Mazda and Toyota are building a factory here to make hybrid-electric vehicles.
College football is the religion.
People from Birmingham really love Birmingham and think we’re not Alabama. Tbh it’s still a blue-collar peasant place but Birmingham is left-wing.
Huntsville is in the far north and has tech and a NASA center.
The Rolling Stones recorded their best music here.
That’s about it
>The Rolling Stones recorded their best music here.
Why'd they end up recording there, anyway?
The Shoals studio was staffed by these super talented white musicians playing black-sounding music and had scored some big hits...I believe a lot of them had been working with Motown before that so they got some famous Motown singers down to make records.
The Stones loved black music, Keith especially, and while they were on tour nearby they made a stay at the studio. Recorded Brown Sugar, Gimme Shelter, and some others. Don’t quote me on that though.
Can you send link about the chef? I think I read about him before...
Btw is it considered racist to have confederate flag in the south or it is ok?
Hey, OP
what's the biggest stereotype about Birmingham?
Do you want to visit English Birmigham?
How big is the problem of crime?
What's the most redneckish place/county in Alabama?
What are some hidden natural gems of Alabama?
Any interesting little worth-visiting towns?
>is it considered racist to have confederate flag in the south
not him, but depends on where you are. In 90% of cases nobody, not even black people, will give a shit. It was just a normal part of life down here for decades before people started hyperpoliticizing it.
