Meanwhile in Switzerland

As of last March, it is illegal in Switzerland to cook crabs, shrimp, and lobsters without stunning them first, done by a device like pictured, so as to spare them the agony of being cut up or boiled alive. In addition, crustaceans must be given humane conditions while being transported.

I'm not saying you want to be like China where they beat dogs to death for soup, but then you also don't want to go to the other extreme and worry about the wellbeing of what's basically a giant insect.

You're wrong. You dont need a special machine.
Literally all you need to do is put a knife through its head before boiling it. It's not that hard.

And it's already being done in every halfway decent establishment in the Western world

who is going to check if that actually happens?

This kills the crab.jpg

Who else remembers?

>worry about the wellbeing of what's basically a giant insect

Suffering is suffering.

Although it's not proven that crabs suffers like humans, it costs nothing to stun them in case they do suffer.

I'm a vegan

>it costs nothing to stun them in case they do suffer.

Of course it does. In fact, it's probably cost your tax payers millions already.

Actually there's no scientific evidence that invertebrates have a nervous system complex enough to process pain.

>sparing lobsters the agony of being dropped into boiling water
doesn't that like kill them instantly?

Probably not. Killing things is pretty hard. They fight for their lives in the end and that's what makes them so delicious. There can be no pleasure in the world without suffering.

That's why you allow Jamal to rape your women?

The only way to guarantee instantaneous death in a human is if you shot someone in the medulla oblongota which will instantly arrest heart and lung function.

lol

stop trying to ham fist your shitty kindergarten philosophy into a conversation about facts

>that video
of course they kick and escape, they weren't fully submerged

Je suis Jamal, frère.

They also don't have a true central nervous system, just several "brains" scattered through the body.

Does anybody have that "Event horizon for crabs" video, which had an industrial machine dissecting crabs with sawblades in brutal fashion?

Grüezi, Gewerbepolizei!

Are you sure it's not the Lebensmittelkontrolleur that inspects the kitchens anyway regularly?

If you can spare a living creature suffering why not fucking do it? It's not like you have to go through a lengthy process. Just press a button and it's done.

wtf crustaceans doesn't even have pain receptors, what's the point?

this.

Your meal at Long John Silver's had to come from somewhere.

how can people even eat those things
they look like giant nightmareish cockroaches
wtf

Orthodox Jews and Muslims don't eat them for a good reason.

Hol' up there. Since when do they eat seafood in a _landlocked_ country?

What?

based

Switzerland is like 2 hours by car from the sea.

Of course. Knives are extremely expensive and the training to properly kill a lobster takes years, all paid for by the taxpayer.

They literally don't feel "pain" like we do though. It's similar to a worm or a clam "feeling". They are not setup for it, physically. Besides they die almost instantly, INSTANTLY when dunked in boiling water head first.

t. not retarded

sea food is disgusting. thanks good we only eat cows and pasta here

>screaming

That's the hiss of evaporating water in their shells, PETA fag.

You realize that it's a huge process to get something like this put into law, right? Fuck, being Switzerland, they probably even had a public referendum on it.

My brother works at chicken farms where he clears them all to be slaughtered. Right now you have 5 chicken per hand. He had to do a course where they thaught the ‘Swedish method’ which only lets you carry 2 chickens per time lol

>huge process
It's not like ministries cost less if they're doing nothing (apart from paying researchers which is peanuts compared to a politician's salary). On a macroeconomic scale it doesn't matter.

KILL ALL CR*BS

The same reason they don't eat pork, as in, it spoils fast in warm climate?
