ChainLink as an oracle has a plethora of applications that are out of oraclize's reach. there's no single size fit all solution to oracles.
a centralized oracle can be hacked or it can be manipulated unfairly and controlled. it would have all the drawbacks of a classic middleman, a single point of failure.
a decentralized oracle creates thousands or more points of failure and spreads out the risk which makes it way more secure. and when you're dealing with a lot of money you want as little monkey business as possible
