novels are trash, educational books is what matters
In the last two-ish years, I've read/finished reading at least the following books.
Cormack McCarthy: Blood Meridian
- a horribly violent story of men going to a private war, slaughtering natives etc; a bloody western
Robert W. Chambers: The King in Yellow
- creepy horror stories
Veikko Huovinen: Rauhanpiippu
- a novel about a pacifist philosopher escaping war in a fictional semi-latin american country; a pacifist polemic
Veikko Huovinen: Joe-setä – Aikalaisten kertomuksia Josef Stalinista
- semi-fictional and funny anecdotes about Stalin from 1988 (the writer had already taken on Hitler earlier)
Tuomas Kyrö: Mielensäpahoittaja + Mielensäpahoittaja ja ruskeakastike
- Old man wonders about the changing world
Tim Powers: The Anubis Gates
- a fun little historical action adventure novel full of magic, they should make a film about it (Tim Powers also wrote On Stranger Tides, inspiration for both Monkey Island games and one of the Pirates of the Caribbean films)
Cordwainer Smith: The Rediscovery of Man
- holy shit, cat girls in my late golden age scifi? it's more likely than you think!
Jerry Yulsman: Elleander Morning
- nice little alt history novel, germans rule the world in the 80's, woman mentally travels through time, becomes a rich whore and changes history by killing Hitler (yeah)
Jules Verne: Around the world in Eighty Days & Five Weeks in a Balloon
- Phileas Fogg is SERIOUSLY autistic
- Five Weeks in a Balloon is hilariously racist in that casual way
Robert Heinlein: Farnham’s Freehold
- oh boy...DEY IS KANGS NOW!
Thomas Pynchon: The Crying of Lot 49
- a weird adventure, can't be summarized
Kurt Vonnegut: Cat's Cradle
- it's a lark
Just as expected, Hans.
He's right though
Haven't read a novel in years

Ma no, dai. L'insostenibile leggerezza dell'essere non è spaziale ma non è orrendo, la mia famiglia e altri animali è abbastanza spassoso.
Les oliviers du Négus, it's a collection of 4 short stories.
ci sono esattamente 2 pagine scritte bene nell'insostenibile leggerezza dell'essere, le prime. Che sono pure da mani nei capelli tralasciando la prosa...
a me durrell ha solo annoiato fino allo sfinimento
i havent read a full book ever
