Hey I got a question about San Fran and the surrounding area. There's such a huge "LGBT" culture in San Fran, and it's weird to me that it's practically on the doorstep of a place like Oakland, with its huge black and hispanic demographic, who are generally less "gay friendly". Is there a large disparity in these areas? How do blacks and hispanics in Oakland feel about all the fags and faggotry in San Fran and vice versa? Can you give some input on that?

The people in Oakland don't seem to care too much about it. There are still tons of gays there as well.
It seems to be a class thing. The ones in the bad neighborhoods are generally the homo haters. I've seen plenty of gay blacks and hispanics in the nicer parts.

I see. Thanks for the input. For some reason California has really piqued my interest lately, especially San Francisco. I hate the leftist political sentiment present in that area, but there's something interesting about the environment, being a cultural hub and all, and I think I would have an absolute field day just walking around and people watching and getting an understanding for the people there.

Last question... Are there a lot of tomboys in San Francisco? I tend to go for them and it seems like the sort of place where there'd be many of them. Can you see tomboys like pic related often just walking the streets? Asking for a friend, of course...

I don't find the politics too annoying. It seems overblown to me on the internet but I could possibly just be desensitized to it. It's certainly worth a visit though.
I'd usually prefer to go to Oakland or Berkeley though because they are similar but less touristy but I've been out there a lot.

I've seen plenty of them but considering the area you don't know if they are into men, women, or both. The androgynous types are tricky for me but maybe your gaydar is better than mine.

I really, really would like to go some day. I've been fantasizing for the last couple days about hiking across the california coastline, starting in Sacramento, working my way down to SF and Oakland, then further down to San José, down around Palo Alto just to see what's going on there, then a long hike down to LA and after that down to San Diego. I'd want to see everything. The most liberal areas like Castro st., the rural swaths of desert with tiny cities of barely a thousand people, the dangerous ghettos, the opulent Beverly Hills and Hollywood, the beaches, etc. Damn, what a journey that would be, and to see it all with my own eyes, that would be incredible.

Anyway, I appreciate the infortomation. It's always interesting to hear from an actual local.

Not really, I live in an area with large number of Pajeets and Japanese, almost never heard them speak their language. Only time cops were called were during Deewally when a Pajeet house burst crackers and people mistook it for gunshots even though they informed the neighbors before hand.
