Honestly, the EU is being tremendously retarded in how they're handling the shitstorm that's been brewing since the financial crisis 10 years ago. If you want to strongarm your population and force them to endure shit they dislike, you need to actually have the proper power and control to do so. In other words, for that to work, you would for German soldiers to actually be stationed in Shitaly and Grease and force them at gunpoint to play nice. Alternatively, if you can't exercise proper control (which is the case because of the EU's weak power structure and because of Germans being inept at leading), then you have no choice but to actually go out of your way to make them happy and make them feel like they have some control over what's going on. EU leaders from countries like Germany did none of these two things, and now it's easy as fuck for China or Russia to swoop in and pick up the pieces. Once again, Germans ruin Europe.

This depends a lot from the country, the immigrant's nationality and the way they got it.
But let's focus on Italy and the nationalities that worry the Right the most that enter illegally: honest work is hard to find for everybody, so they tend to either go criminal, go for underground jobs (AKA work without any kind of mandatory insurance because it's cheaper for the employer) or try to pool money from the community to set up some kind of shop to sell things in, praying that they aren't competing with anyone in particular. The ones that don't get spotted and/or arrested tend to not integrate much in larger cities, but the sheer cultural pressure in smaller ones tend to get them to conform.

They are housed by private companies that get money from the state for every immigrant they keep. They usually get meals and a small allowance, and of course they keep whatever money and belonging they had. You have to consider that immigrants are actually the middle class of their countries, a poor farmer could never afford the trip to Europe
