low iq

No need to really. The immigrants here already learn English.

Spanish is an ugly dog's tongue.

Its hard to learn when you have no use of it and or when you despise native speakers of such language.
Thats why I cant speak g*rman despite 6 years of classes at shool

It's mandatory only for one class. I doubt anyone actually "learned" the language they took unless they cared for it outside of school

Kek
No they don't

Because it's a waste of time unless you have some personal reason to need or want to learn another language.

Same reason so few Spaniards speak Tamil. Everything not English is not really worth the effort to learn on a national level.

Who would anyone want to speak Spanish? To talk with maids or house keepers?

because there's no point, I can drive 600miles/965km and not even leave my home state. most places in Europe that's several countries that all have a language

i would think that too if i only knew mexican spanish i guess
same here, i think most people only learn the bare minimum english to get a decent grade and then forget about it if they have no interest in using it

because there are no important countries nearby that speak another language

Maybe to your bosses

I only know English even though I had spanish and french classes as well.
I don't want to talk to arabs, blacks or mexicans anyways

Attached: 1511524967821.jpg (600x600, 102K)

Because we learn "spanish" as far as numbers and colors unless you're living in a place like California or Texas. For most of us we aren't going to be using another language unless your parents/family are immigrants or Pennsylvania Dutch or something, so unless you actively want to learn something else we don't bother. Most of the people past the border speak English. We have states that dwarf entire countries both in size and population, it's a big country.

Most people around the world have to "learn" another language in school yet most of them can't speak it

What bosses?

Unless you want to move to a country theres no reason outside of moderate interest to learn it
Why would i give a fuck about Arabs, Latins, Chinese, Japanese or Indians. Pretty much theres German and French for niche literature and entertainment that isn't translated.

Your Spanish is fucking disgusting too.

I knew there was a reason I felt kinship with Australia.

Honestly, learn French and German is useless, unless you would want to live in Quebec. Only English is relevant

Wtf I love Brazil now.

French sounds nice and i can't find subtitles for their weird 80s titty and bush movies but i wont put in proper effort for trival stuff like that when i have no intention to move there

They're one of the better commonwealth countries.

Yeah they do

>i would think that too if i only knew mexican spanish i guess
this.
>a room mate in freshman year was 1st gen spanish american.
>almost unintelligible to the horde of latin americans at the college

Will America have to make Spanish its second official languages once 60% of their population becomes mexican

America doesn't have an official language.

Bullshut. Spanish will dominate. Mark my words.

Because americans are retarded. The only reason we're on top is because of our 1%.

Why would anyone learn Spanish? Are there good universities in Spanish? Just curious.

It opens a great culture. As Portugues.

Spanish-speaking society is open and strongly conservative at the same time. As brazilian.

You have a special mentality.

So you will spend money and time for nothing?

>despite it being mandatory in school?

It is?

For anglosaxon americans we will never be "the same people". I don't even talk about anglo liberals.

But latin society is open and strong at the same time.

Russian english is cute, CUTE.
>So you will spend money
T. brainled who can't learn it for free.

youtube.com/watch?v=VDKokkJJa2M

youtube.com/watch?v=3x-DjgdrHB8

youtube.com/watch?v=W2wnkLT6b84

But Russian has too hard orthography (it's a meme that our writing system is phonetical, believe me) and pronuntiation to become international outside of /ex-ussr/

youtube.com/watch?v=zKjXd60t4O0

I was just saying that your english skills are bare minimum and it makes you sound like a japanese poster.
Also, why are you posting random Russian covers of american songs?

>translated
You are fucking subhuman.

So many good Russian songs and you post absolute garbage covers. The real reason Russian won't spread outside of ex USSR and Israel is that it's just a bitch to learn thanks to every word having like 20 odd forms or something.

Why the fuck would a native english speaker need to learn any foreign language? Seriously dumb cunt, answer me!

English has the most amount of actively used words and provides fuck all in terms of phonetic guidance to aid acquisition. You either heard it pronounced by natives or you never really know how to say the word. If the British and North Americans used Russian instead of English, we'd all be using Russian now.

To open your world, you pig ignorant cunt. For example, what was Jow Forums created to discuss? What is the language of that content? Not English.

Not too many people learning Japanese

Gramatically, english is pretty simple, but phonetically its a nightmare compared to most european languages (except french wich is pretty ambiguous too)

In the UK at least, we are forced to learn a language, the problem is they teach it like shit. They dont tell us about the country, for me it was Spain, they dont try and give us interest they just spout shit about how you needed a language qualification to get into uni. Everyone in my class wanted to learn German, but they refused.

So the Yanks are probably similar, the languages in school are taught like shit and the language itself arent as important or dominant to garner interest.

French has some retarded rules but once you figure them out you pretty much know how to pronounce all words.

By driving laps on a course?
:^)

>abo
>is subhuman
It checks

Why would they?

You don't learn to speak a language well unless you constantly use it, most of them have no reason to.

>English phonetically its a nightmare

It's because Spanish is a shit language where you don't have the "J" sound of James and the "V" sound of "Volt".

Spanish speaking people can't speak names like "Carlson" kek

Many Americans are too arrogant to do the effort to learn another language.

Do they even need? Everyone is speaking English here.

d͡ʒ is a gay ass sound anyway. Real languages use t͡ɕ.

British learn other languages at school. Usually it's French or Spanish. British tourists talk to us in French, American tourists don't do the single effort to speak French with us.

Do you use the sound of "check" for "J"?

>Why do so few americans actually speak a foreign language, despite it being mandatory in school?
We never have an opportunity to practice it. There is also a lot less easily accessible media for us to consume in said languages. Additionally for Spanish we are taught what is spoken in Spain not the garbage our immigrants speak.

Spanish is pretty pointless, without a very specific goal in mind. So is German and french really, and the latter probably is only useful in parts of Africa. Most of Asia and a lot of ex USSR though you're much less likely to find English speakers.

No, we just think of it as a "d" followed by a "j" (y as in yes) and nobody can tell the difference.

> Less accessible media

That's just being to lazy to look for it or having no interest. The internet is flooded with foriegn media in every major language and probably some of the minor ones as well.

>Everyone is speaking English in a internet forum of american majority.
HUHDUHDUH

It is pretty ironic, said by a french.

What do you mean ?

>arrogant
>can't speak foreign languages properly
>obsessed with your language

He still typed that in English, I bet you know nothing of French, the real arrogant are you anglos

Not in close proximity with many other countries that speak a different language. In the south west you see more Spanish, in Maine you see some French. But aside from that there is no need to learn another language.

Same is true for Canadians. Outside Quebec very few people speak French

>French
>Arrogant
You are dumb.

>can't speak foreign languages properly
Somewhat true, but at least we try.

>obsessed with your language
We aren't. Don't take us for our government.

I speak 3 languages, compreso l'italiano e il francese.

>il ne veut pas parler avec ni les arabes, ni les noirs, ni les mexicains
>mais il a appris l'anglais
ça ne calcule pas

I can post good russian songs, but you probably won't understand the idea of them, why russian versions of anglo songs should be interesting.

youtube.com/watch?v=IAuzNXGmkL4 - one of the latest popular pop song here. English subs are aviable.

I already speak the portuguese dialect of spanish no need to learn castillian

>That's just being to lazy to look for it or having no interest. The internet is flooded with foriegn media in every major language and probably some of the minor ones as well.
Yeah I'm not really into telenovelas and watching futbol.

In this video russian celebrities acting like a common people.

>American
>Arrogant

>Somewhat true, but at least we try.
Many americans do as well, they have an excuse because learning foreign language for them is not really relevant in any way.

> Don't take us for our government.
There are at least 3 threads every day by french posters saying that French should be the language of the EU.

Statistically irrelevant

Eh I'm trying to learn russian, but basically still just getting started. That songs alright, although the singer comes across as a less interesting sounding Gregory Leps. Female singers like Temnikova, and this ( youtu.be/nHsCSQeAEw0) are more my thing, outside of gazgolder/blackstar stuff.

>No need to really.
PERFECT excuse when you are lazy and stupid.
this fucking amerifats and their god complex are hilarious.

25% of brits can hold a conversation in a second language, which is impressive given that they probably wouldn't need to since english is the lingua franca.
Compare that to just 50% of french have a basic level of english, with 15% being actually advanced and proficient in it.

>There are at least 3 threads every day by french posters saying that French should be the language of the EU.
FRENCH POSTERS... mate, just like every single poster on 4choon, we don't represent our population for God's sake

Gee, thank you for telling me François.

Well, he's right. Russians and plenty of Eastern Euros, do need to learn it and they still don't.

Because it's an ugly language whose only speakers in this country are literal peasants.

Spanish is one of the ugliest languages desu

I refuse to learn it

We are a plebeian agglomeration of states.

>almost unintelligible to the horde of latin americans at the college
Not their fault if his ass accent makes him unintelligible.

Spanish > * >>>>> G*rman

Mexican Spanish > any other Spanish

Because they get laughed at when they do.

An American speaks Spanish? Haha dumb spic.

An American speaks Japanese? Haha dumb weaboo.

An American speaks German? Haha dumb ancestry.com fag

An American speaks Chinese? Haha Ching Chang Chong

You get the point

mais ferme ta gueule

In Australia, it utterly useless to learn another language.

Aren't you guys having a bit of an Asian invasion down there?

If I were an aussie I'd learn one of the abo languages.

Not even kidding - they're pretty cool once you dive into them.

Most of the immigrants are Indian, who mostly speak English, or Chinese who...mostly do. Fortunately, the Government seems keen on pushing it further.
sbs.com.au/yourlanguage/hindi/en/article/2018/03/09/immigration-minister-peter-dutton-says-english-requirement-migrants-no-brainer

The problem is the sheer amount of them. I mean just look at this list.
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Australian_Aboriginal_languages
You'll notice most of them are extinct, and most others will be in a generation or two. It just has no relevance in day to day life, even in abo communities.

t. couldn't hold a conversation in English

I took German in HS, and continued taking it at Uni and I almost never use it and have never seen a position in my field that requires, plus Germans are generally dreadful to speak with

why do Amerigggans have to learn a mandatory extra language anyway? who in your country are in favour of that and why?
