People do care. A lot. Although you won't be seeing any lynchings and most people are very polite in all situations, don't let yourself think that everyone embrace apathy. Don't either celebrate interracial coupling as more noble etc. Other people should be respected if they deserve it, but to purposefully turning your back against those with whom you share the most isn't anything different than your respective assumed nightmare. And I guess no-one need to even mention those who, as a guest, seek to destroy their own hosts.
